Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 476

Madeline’s head throbbed every time he called her those nicknames.

“Shut up, get in the back,” she snapped.

She fired up the jet ski, twisting the throttle harder than she meant to. The engine roared and the jet ski shot forward.

“Shit!”

There was a splash behind her.

“Wait, I wasn’t on yet!” the man yelled from the water.

Madeline rolled her eyes and circled back. He was quick, though, and managed to grab onto the jet ski, arms wrapping around her waist. Madeline hated being touched by strangers, especially like this. “Let go of my waist.”

He grinned. “Well, where else am I supposed to hold on? Your chest?”

Madeline just stared at him, completely speechless.

Someone shouted behind them. “Don’t run! Stop right there!”

The man glanced over his shoulder, then shot Madeline a wide, reckless grin. “Uh oh, they’re catching up. This is getting fun.” He sounded like he was on some kind of thrill ride, not running for his life. “Come on, let’s go.”

Madeline didn’t have time to argue. She hit the gas and they were off again.

It was her first time driving a jet ski, and she had no idea where to go. All she could do was gun it and hope for the best.

The guy behind her was hooting and hollering like he was at an amusement park. “This is awesome!”

Madeline was just trying not to die. What kind of day was this?

“Can you please shut up?” she snapped.

“Come on, you don’t think this is a rush?”

A rush? She wanted to throw him off the back.

“Relax, they won’t kill me.”

“What’s your name?”

He glanced at her, something sad flickering in his eyes. “Don’t have one. Give me one next time we meet, okay?”

Before she could answer, another jet ski crashed into theirs. Madeline’s heart jumped, but the man had already launched himself at the other driver.

She clenched her jaw, a cold feeling creeping into her chest.

He landed on the other jet ski, kicked its driver into the water, then spun the vehicle around. He flashed a cocky smile at their pursuers. “Stop chasing her. If you’re brave enough, come after me.”

Most of the pursuers took the bait and sped after him, but a few still chased Madeline.

The pitch black ocean turned into a deadly racetrack.

Just as Madeline was about to be caught, a helicopter’s blades thundered overhead. A spotlight swept over the waves, then gunshots cracked through the night.
