Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 672

She couldn’t figure it out. With the way they resented her, they should have made her life a living hell by now.

After what she'd done to Madeline, after taking away her sight, shouldn’t they be looking for payback? An eye for an eye.

But nothing had happened. No vengeance. No punishment.

Why not?

Claire lifted her gaze to Julian, confusion flickering in her eyes.

Unless... maybe they still needed her for something.

“Madeline lost her sight... she’s going to need a cornea transplant, right? You’re planning to give her mine, aren’t you?” Claire’s voice was thin, shaking.

That had to be it. Why else let her keep breathing when she should have been dead a thousand times over?

Julian stared down at her, his face twisted with pure disgust. “You stole her face, blinded her. Don’t you think you should pay it back?”

Claire’s scream echoed off the walls. “Don’t you dare! Don’t you even think about it, Julian! You’re a monster, a lunatic. I won’t let you get away with this. I swear, I won’t.”

Julian stood, looking down at her as if she were nothing. His voice was cold, flat. “Keep a close eye on her. Those eyes belong to Madeline now. If anything happens to them, one of you will replace her.”

His words were final, and the guards instantly tensed, alert.

“Julian! Come back here! Don’t do this! I won’t let you get away with it, never!” Claire thrashed on the floor, desperation in every scream.

Julian didn’t turn around. He just walked away, not once looking back.

Julian stepped into the room and frozen. Shards of glass glittered across the floor like jagged diamonds, and his heart clenched when he saw the bed was empty.

He crossed the room in a few steps and opened the bathroom door. Madeline froze, halfway through undressing.

“Julian?”

He let out a breath he didn’t know he’d been holding. “How’d you know it was me?”

Madeline choked out a small sob. “I just feel so useless right now.”

She had tried to get a drink of water, but ended up smashing the glass and banging her knee. She wanted to wash up, but she couldn’t even find her own wounds.

She couldn’t do anything anymore. She’d tried so hard to keep it together, but the last bit of strength just crumbled.

Madeline took a shaky breath, trying to swallow her pain, but her tears kept coming faster.

Julian’s chest ached for her. He didn’t say anything at first, just reached out and gently untied the gauze. He stared silently at her tightly closed eyes.

Then he leaned in, cupped her face, and kissed her eyelids and brows, slow and soft.

“My Madeline has the most beautiful eyes,” he whispered. “It breaks my heart for them not to see the world. Trust me, you’ll see everything again soon. I promise.”

A faint, trembling smile tugged at Madeline’s lips.
