Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 673

She knew Julian was just trying to make her feel better. This wasn’t some small cut that would heal overnight. Getting her sight back wasn’t going to be easy.

“Okay.” Madeline tried to sound relaxed, giving a little nod. If Julian wanted to comfort her, she’d let him.

“Do you still want to freshen up?”

Madeline shook her head. “It’s fine. We’d probably just mess up the bandages. No need to bother. I can wait.”

“I’ll help you.”

She blinked, surprised. “Huh?”

“I’ll help you.” Before she could protest, Julian scooped her up and started carrying her toward the bathroom.

“Wait… hold on.”

Something felt off, and Madeline’s face changed. “Julian, I’m still hurt, remember? I can’t—you know—do anything with you right now. Are you sure you can keep yourself under control?”

Julian shot her a look she couldn’t quite read and said quietly, “I’ll manage.”

Madeline wanted to back out, but he was already undoing her buttons. “Lift your arm.”

Embarrassed, Madeline bit down on her lower lip. “Can’t we just call a nurse?”

“I don’t want anyone else seeing you,” Julian said, firm but gentle.

“The nurse is a woman!”

“I don’t care. That’s not the point.”

A fierce heat flooded Madeline’s cheeks, blooming down her neck until she felt like she might spontaneously combust.

She bit her lip harder, not daring to meet his eyes.

Julian paused, his fingers lingering just a second longer, his breathing suddenly heavier.

She couldn’t see, but she could sense the shift in the air between them.

“You…” she started, then just closed her mouth. No words came out.

“Are you really going to sleep on the sofa again?”

It was a comfortable couch, sure, but it couldn’t be as good as the bed. She worried he’d end up exhausted, especially with everything he did during the day and then taking care of her at night.

“Well, if you let me on the bed, I wouldn’t have to use the sofa.”

He was joking, but to his surprise, Madeline bit her lip and said, “Then get up here.”

The hospital suite was fancy, and the bed was huge—plenty of space for two.

Julian froze for a moment, then licked his lips and got up. He walked over to the bed.

The mattress dipped when he climbed in beside her, moving carefully. He gathered her into his arms. The soft, golden light landed on her face, making her look impossibly pretty. Her cheeks were still bright red, and for a second she looked both shy and completely irresistible.

Julian let out a shaky breath. He couldn’t help thinking to himself,

What a little troublemaker.

Impossible to say no to.
