Twin Cupids at Work Daddy Come Home novel Chapter 748

Just because Lucy never asked, probed, or mentioned certain things didn't mean she was oblivious.

She was confined to a wheelchair, powerless to change the tide of most events, so she chose to feign ignorance. She didn't expect to be of help; she only hoped to avoid being a burden.

Madeline placed a comforting hand on Lucy's shoulder and patted it gently. "We're already looking into it. The truth about Brian's death will come to light. I'll make sure to remind Julian to stay on his guard."

Lucy reached up and rested her hand over Madeline's. "Thank you, Madeline. More than anything, I hope you're the one standing by Julian's side for the rest of his life."

Madeline offered a serene smile. From the corner of her eye, she noticed a group of people walking into the grand foyer alongside Denise.

Lucy followed Madeline's gaze, her expression souring instantly.

She genuinely loathed Jane and Alianna.

They were two women who lived only to leech off men, their minds entirely consumed with schemes to steal other women's husbands. Even if Alianna were Ray's biological daughter, Lucy still would have found her behavior utterly repulsive.

"Lucy, Madeline, you're both here," Alianna said, her gaze brushing lightly over Madeline.

"Alianna, why are you being so polite to this bitch? She was jealous of your place by Julian's side and got you fired..."

"Denise, don't blame Madeline. I'm sure it was my own fault. I must have done something wrong at work."

"Stop defending her. This bitch is as toxic as they come." Denise hooked her arm through Alianna's and let out a disdainful scoff in Madeline's direction.

"Denise, watch your mouth."

A commotion at the front entrance drew their attention. Denise saw a heavily intoxicated Lincoln stumble through the door and immediately rushed over to him. "Lincoln, why are you this drunk again?"

Lincoln ignored his sister completely. His glassy, hazy eyes locked straight onto Madeline. Swaying on his feet, he stumbled aggressively in her direction. Lucy quickly reached out, shielding Madeline with her arm as she glared warily at Lincoln. "What do you think you're doing?"

Lincoln sneered, completely dismissing Lucy as he stared Madeline down. "Set me up, did you? You... well played!" He gave Madeline a sloppy, sarcastic thumbs-up.

"How exactly did I set you up?" Madeline met his gaze without an ounce of fear.

"Tell me, if Madeline became Lincoln's woman, do you think Julian would still want anything to do with her?"

Alianna's eyes instantly lit up. "Mom, are you suggesting..."

"Shh, keep your voice down."

Alianna’s eyes lit up with excitement.

Jane sighed. "It's a shame we aren't prepared today, otherwise we could trap them in a room and ensure the deed gets done tonight."

"I am." Alianna unzipped her designer purse just a fraction.

Jane peeked inside and immediately clamped her hand down over the opening, whispering sharply, "Why on earth do you have that kind of drug in your bag?"

Frustration flared in Alianna's voice. "I originally planned to use it on Julian. But when I showed up at the office today, I was handed my termination papers. Well, it works out perfectly. We can save the good stuff for Madeline. I'd love to see if Julian still wants her after Lincoln has his way with her."
