She was obviously trying to put him on the spot. Madeline didn’t believe for a second that Julian would actually agree.

Off to the side, Miles just shook his head quietly.

Honestly, Mr. Grayson, you kind of brought this on yourself. She used to come over, practically begging to treat you for free, and you turned her away. Now look at you—paying hundreds of millions for a single session.

He really wanted to ask his boss if he just had too much money lying around and needed to find ways to spend it.

Ms. Fortner and your mother were in a car accident last night. Ms. Fortner has minor injuries, but your mother has a mild concussion. They’re all at the hospital right now.”
