Arthur's face was twisted in pain. "Can't you see what her brother did to her? Do you really want her brother to go beat up Grace now?"
"Amber, even though I don't know the full details of why Xanthe is here, can you stop pretending I don't exist? Do you really want Grace to get beaten up?"
Arthur's heart ached. He knew Grace was despicable, but Damien hitting people was just wrong.
"Arthur..."
"This is my family matter, and I'll handle it myself. Everyone, please disperse. Give me some face and let this joke end here."
Carter and Wallace sneered. "Arthur, Grace calling you a pushover was absolutely right."
"You're bullied to this extent, and you still want to hold it in?"
"Grace is your precious treasure, so she's untouchable, but Xanthe is just supposed to suffer for nothing?"
"If we knew you were this much of a coward, we should've just let Xanthe's brother beat you to death."
Damien was furious too. "You really are a total doormat! I can see that clearly now. Kid, it's not that I don't want to respect the agreement, but you see what your dad is like. I'm taking my sister back. I'd rather have her work like a dog for the Sutton family than suffer this kind of cowardly humiliation."
Before Xanthe could even cry out in protest, Amber intervened. "Mr. Sutton, a contract is a contract. Regardless of how my dad acted today, until the deadline passes, you have to honor it. Otherwise, you owe Xanthe one hundred thousand in compensation."
"Kid!"
"I'll assume you were just ignorant and manipulated today. You've already thrown your punches, and now you know the truth. I won't entertain this any longer. Get out before the cops arrive. How you explain this to your family is your problem. I'm only going by the agreement."
Damien was instantly silenced by Amber's overwhelming aura. He couldn't believe a high schooler had more commanding presence than their village chief. "Fine. Since the agreement stands, I'm the one breaking it. I got hit by you too, so we're even. On the day the Exam results are announced, if your dad doesn't bring my sister back to Fairhaven Village to restore the Sutton family's pride, we're coming for that three hundred thousand."
"Xanthe, if you still consider yourself a Sutton, have some self-respect. If this man can shake off that woman on his own, great. If not... I'll tie you up and drag you back myself."
Damien limped away.
