Two Reborn, One Throne novel Chapter 173

The moment the cat lunged toward her, Amber immediately set her grocery bags down on the floor.

Though her instant bond with the animal left Sharif stunned, Amber quickly covered it up. "Mr. Madison, is this your cat? Wow, he's so cute."

Sharif's dark eyes were unreadable, his curiosity about Amber deepening by the second.

"Start cooking. I'm hungry."

His voice was as coldly detached as ever.

He completely ignored her fawning over the cat.

Amber openly rolled her eyes. She knew this fox hadn't eaten breakfast and had intentionally dragged her over to turn lunch into a morning meal.

"Understood, Mr. Madison. Please wait a moment, I'll be quick." Saying this, Amber pretended to look around the space, letting the cat perch on her shoulder as she picked up her groceries. "Mr. Madison, this is the kitchen, right? Could you tell me where you keep your rice, pots, and oil?"

She didn't want him getting any more suspicious. Even though she knew exactly where everything was, she had to play dumb.

Sharif sat down on the plush sofa. Leaving his freshly brewed coffee untouched, he reverted to his usual aloof demeanor while demanding she cook for him, holding his coffee in one hand and scrolling through his iPad with the other.

His attitude clearly screamed: *Find it yourself. Didn't you offer to cook for me at my house? Is this all you've got?*

Amber started opening cabinets and drawers, mainly to make sure Sharif saw her acting like she was unfamiliar with Harbor Heights, pretending to memorize where everything was stored.

The kitchen was massive, featuring a huge island. It was an open-concept space, entirely equipped with high-tech smart appliances.

This meant that even if Sharif saw her as nothing more than a hired maid here to make a meal, he had a perfect vantage point to monitor her every move.

Amber remained cautious. Even though Sharif's current kitchen tools were very different and far more advanced than what she was used to from her past life, she still had to poke around and inspect everything like a country bumpkin encountering new tech for the first time.

Sharif found her reactions incredibly amusing. From the moment she offered to cook for him, he had been anticipating whether this little fox would completely short-circuit when faced with his high-end smart kitchen.

Just as expected, she looked lost.

"Mr. Madison, is this the oil dispenser?"

Sharif crossed his long, elegantly tailored legs.

He glanced up at Amber, his tone practically begging for a slap. "Are you asking me? My apologies, but I have no idea."

"Then is this the oven?"

Sharif gave the same response. "I don't know. Weren't you incredibly confident in your culinary skills? Are you stumped already?"

Amber felt like dropping the act. If she could, she would love to just turn on the faucet and spray Sharif right in the face.

This old fox was obviously testing her, just waiting to see what her real motive was for insisting on coming to his house to cook.

Ha—did he think she was going to seduce him?
