Two Reborn, One Throne novel Chapter 3

Instead of letting go like she asked, he tightened his grip. "Joanne, I'm so sorry. In this life, I promise I'll never let you down again. I will treat you so well."

He swore to himself that, not only would he keep Amber out of his life, but he would also give Joanne every ounce of the love and devotion Amber had never received.-

Joanne froze in surprise.

Was this guy out of his mind?

Treat her well?

Please, she hadn't even agreed to go out with him.

Wait, had he even confessed to her before this?

Still... her lips curled into a faint smile. His sudden obsession was a bit weird, but it definitely wasn't a bad thing.

"Are you losing your mind from exam stress? Are you seriously going to follow this two-faced girl to some trashy community college that doesn't even care about grades?" Tillie, standing next to Amber, thought he had completely lost the plot.

"Shut your mouth! Don't you dare insult her! I know exactly what I'm doing!" The fury in Lucian’s eyes looked ready to burn Tillie to ashes. Then, turning toward Amber—who was still bleeding down the side of her face—he emphasized every word: "I am wide awake. Clearer than I have ever been."

"Amber, I shouldn't have to teach you what to do next!" He grabbed Joanne by the wrist, dragging her away while shooting Amber a dark warning. If she dared run to his mother about this, he would make her pay!

"He's completely lost it! Amber..."

Tillie was still worried, but Amber just bit her lip tightly. "Tillie, we're adults. We need to take responsibility for our own actions."

She wasn't going to get involved. He wasn't worth it, and he certainly didn't deserve her help!

After getting her forehead bandaged at the infirmary, Amber headed straight home.

The neighborhood was famously known as Riverport's slums. However, because it was home to the school's valedictorian, it received quite a bit of attention.
