Amber was livid. Did they really think she was just some clueless, broke student who hadn't seen the world?

That outfit Joanne was wearing yesterday had only been out of the store for one day; it was practically brand new. At worst, they would have deducted a ten percent fee. Skimming the change to hand back while pocketing the massive bulk of the cash? Her scam was way too obvious.

In her past life, Amber hadn't known a thing about luxury brand return policies until her corporate colleagues explained it to her. She had looked into it and realized that brands charging those astronomical prices had very specific, accommodating policies for a reason.

But it wasn't the scam itself that pissed Amber off; it was the fact that Lucian was actually stupid enough to fall for it.

Ha! And he had the nerve to stand there and self-righteously declare that what she wanted was exactly what he was throwing away.

Bullshit! It was time he woke up.

Lucian, naturally, wasn't fully convinced by Joanne's pathetic trick, but what truly angered him was seeing Joanne suffer. He had sworn an oath that he would never let her be wronged again. If it weren't for Amber, this scene wouldn't be happening!

Joanne's face was chalk-white. Soaked to the bone, she was shaking uncontrollably.

How the hell did Amber know about luxury return policies?

"Lucian, I'm so cold. I'm scared. I told you we should just let it go. Look at her, Amber looks like she wants to eat me alive, and now she's framing me for stealing money."

"Lucian, I'm sorry, I'm just useless. If you don't believe me, let's go to the store right now. I can get the sales associates to prove it."

Joanne cried with aggressive victimhood, acting as if Amber was maliciously trying to ruin her life.

Hearing this, Amber just laughed. She watched Lucian step up to offer Joanne his warmth, only to realize he was dripping wet too. "Don't be scared, Joanne. I'll handle this."

He turned his glare to Tillie. "Give me your jacket. Can't you see Joanne is freezing?"

Tillie exploded. "Can't you see Amber is freezing too? And even if I did notice your precious Joanne, I wouldn't give it to her anyway."

"Tillie!"

"What's going on? What happened here?"

Vance Leavitt pushed through the crowd of students peeking through the classroom windows and stormed in. His eyes widened at the scene. "Is this a catfight? Like straight out of a soap opera? Lucian, do you really have to be this dramatic?"

"Vance, give me your uniform jacket." Lucian ordered.
