“Nestor, if I don’t go, I’ll be sending Clara to her doom!”
Elio glanced anxiously at his watch. She’d been taken over ten minutes ago. He could only imagine the hell she was going through right now…
…
Inside the master bedroom of the Melendez estate.
A guard entered briskly. “Sir, we have her.”
Emmett’s gaze turned to ice. “Bring her in.”
“Yes, sir.”
Emmett heard footsteps behind him. He kept his back to Clara, raising a hand to dismiss the others.
Once the room was empty, Emmett turned.
Clara stood there as if in a trance—no movement, no expression, not a single word.
The atmosphere was chillingly silent.
Emmett’s eyes narrowed. “You wanted to keep that bastard this badly?”
Bastard…
The word pulled Clara from her stupor. She stared blankly at Emmett, her colorless lips parting and then closing again.
“Heh. I never realized you were so devoted to Elio.”
He had been too soft before, letting this woman play him for a fool. This time, there would be no mercy.
“Someone get the doctor! I’m going to watch him take that bastard out of her belly, right here in this room!”
