Ugh, Leah absolutely detested this feeling of not being in control.

Everything was so uncertain, and it was making her downright irritable!

It seemed like a gamble putting all her chips on Clara and Elio, and just the thought of the fifty million dollars to Newell gave Leah a headache!

Sure, if she married Emmett, fifty million would be chump change, but right now, she didn't have that kind of cash.

She couldn't possibly go to Sophia and ask her for the money, could she?

After all the effort Leah had put into cultivating her image in front of Sophia, she wanted to avoid looking like a gold digger at all costs.

Leah sneaked a glance at Sophia.

But asking straight out for fifty million, given Sophia's suspicious nature, she'd probably get the wrong idea and lose the enthusiasm for playing matchmaker with Emmett!

That was not gonna happen!

She could end up shooting herself in the foot if this didn't work out.

As Clara gazed at the endless stretch of forest before her, she realized she was completely lost.

After running as hard as she could, Clara was out of steam.

Her legs gave out, and she collapsed onto the grass, her knees scraped and bloodied. Clutching her belly, she felt a sharp pain.

"You're the key to saving Emmett's life; I'm begging you! Nothing can happen to you!"

Clara clasped her abdomen, desperate and agitated.

Her pursuers were closing in, yet she saw no hope for escape.

They must be in a car, while she could only run. What chance did she have to get away?

On the phone, Elio hesitated for a while before he slowly spoke, "Clara, I'm sorry, there's something I haven't told you."

Clara was startled. "What is it?"

"The thing is, I've known about your pregnancy for a while now."

"What?"

Clara was taken aback, unable to guess what Elio was about to say next, but the people Emmett had sent had already spotted her.

"Over there! Hurry, grab her!"

A group of people charged toward Clara; there was no escape.

Panicked, Clara instinctively shrank back, "What are you saying, just spit it out! They're here!"

"And the child inside you is actually Emmett's! Nothing happened between us that night!"
