"No need," Amara Sullivan said, closing her laptop. "Elysia can go with me."
She definitely didn't want a man accompanying her for an abortion. It would only cause misunderstandings with the people around them, and she wanted to avoid that at all costs.
Keith West understood her concerns. Since she didn't want him there, he didn't push it. "Then you and Elysia go together. I don't have anything urgent tomorrow morning. If anything comes up or you need a hand, just call me. I'll head right over."
Amara nodded. "Okay."
Keith glanced at her stomach.
Truthfully, he still found it hard to believe she was going through with it.
Even though he desperately wanted her to terminate the pregnancy, he wanted to ensure she had thought it through so she wouldn't regret it later.
"Ama," he began softly, "are you absolutely sure about this?"
"I won't lie, I really hoped you wouldn't keep this baby, but if you truly want it, there's still room to figure things out. You have to be absolutely certain. I just don't want you to regret it."
Amara offered a small smile. She knew Keith was speaking from a place of genuine care.
"I've thought it through," she replied. "If Finnian didn't know, it would be one thing. But now that he knows this baby exists, I really have to go through with it. What if he uses the child to stay tangled in my life?"
Mentioning him brought up her lingering anxiety about Dorian Hawke knowing her plans.
Would Dorian tell Finnian? If he did, Finnian wouldn't just stand by. What would he do?
Seeing her troubled expression, Keith asked, "What's wrong? Are you worried you'll regret it?"
