“You should get some proper rest now. That walk must have tired you out,” Arabella said, looking at Edward with concern. “Having you there with me actually helped. “But you’re so busy with your own work. You should focus on that.” He paused, then asked, “Arabella, with your level of skill, why aren’t you practicing at a major hospital?”

“Well…” Arabella hesitated for a moment, searching for the right words.

Seeing her pause, Edward asked sympathetically, “Is it because it’s so hard to get privileges at a good hospital without the right referrals or background?”

“But the way things are now… It’s just so difficult.” His face clouded with frustration and helplessness.

His sister had such remarkable talent, yet without the right connections, she couldn’t practice formally within a major institution. To Edward, it felt like a terrible waste.

Seeing his somber expression, Arabella offered a reassuring smile. “It’s okay. I am Mr. Stewart’s attending physician now, in a way. So it doesn’t matter if I’m not on the official staff roster. If you’re good at what you do, people will find you.”

“But practicing independently, without a hospital affiliation… is that secure?” Edward asked, his worry evident.

“Don’t worry. I’m not practicing off the books. I’m fully licensed, and Mr. Stewart has arranged for me to have admitting and treatment privileges here specifically for his case. I’m just not a salaried employee.”

“So Mr. Stewart does have the influence to help you,” Edward said thoughtfully. “Arabella, since you’re already his physician, maybe you should seize this opportunity. You could ask him to help you get a formal position here at Kindwell.

“That way, you wouldn’t have to split your time with that small company out in Sunspire anymore. You could focus entirely on medicine and research right here, in a world–class hospital.” Edward’s eyes lit up with hopeful possibilities as he spoke.

“You’re still young, and the path ahead might seem uncertain. I want to help you find your footing. Once you have a stable, respected career, I’ll feel so much more at ease.” Edward looked at her with deep affection.
