Taking in Harper’s blank look, Freya let out a soft, frustrated sigh. How could her daughter not have heard of the Stewarts?

Dylan jumped in to explain. “She hasn’t really been introduced to all that yet. Freya’s talking about the Stewart family here in Doranor.”

As someone who often socialized with other wealthy heirs, Dylan was fairly familiar with the local elite.

Hearing him confirm the name, Freya’s eyes widened in renewed shock.

When on earth had that wretched girl Arabella gotten involved with the Stewart family? She hadn’t picked up even a hint of it…

Noticing her mother’s stunned expression, Harper asked, “Mom, what’s wrong? You look surprised.”

Freya turned to her still–unaware daughter. “You wouldn’t know this, but the Stewarts are a major old–money family. They’ve been here for generations–one of the oldest and most established names in the city. I’ve heard their roots in Doranor go back over a century.

“So you can imagine the kind of influence they old,” Freya added seriously,

Harper nodded slowly, finally understanding why both her mother and Dylan had reacted so strongly.

So the Stewart family was in a completely different league–far more powerful than her own.

“Mom,” Harper began, a note of concern creeping into her voice, “if they’re that influential. and Arabella has gotten close to a Stewart… doesn’t that put us in a tough position?”

“If it’s true, then yes, it could be very bad for us, Freya admitted, her brows furrowed with

worry.

She then turned back to Dylan. “How close are they, exactly? Arabella and Mr. Stewart from Horizon Corp, I mean.”

Dylan shifted slightly where he sat. “I’m not sure how deep it goes. But last time we saw them, Mr. Stewart did publicly stand up for her.

“There’s definitely something going on between them,” Dylan concluded, his gaze sharp.

“You’re right,” Harper jumped in, following his line of thought. “Arabella came from nowhere. She must have used some kind of trick to get his attention, so he felt obligated to help her that one time.

“She probably begged him to do it. A CEO like him–surrounded by beautiful, accomplished women–would never genuinely be interested in someone like her.”

Listening to them, Freya felt a headache coming on.

At this point, she couldn’t make sense of what was really happening between Arabella and Matthew.

Rubbing her temples gently, she stood. “Figure out dinner yourselves. I’m going upstairs to lie down.”

With that, she made her way toward the staircase.

Harper blinked, watching her mother leave. “Is Mom okay? She just came down, sat for a minute, and now she’s going back up.”

“I think she might just be tired. Why don’t we go out later and pick up some supplements for her?” Dylan suggested thoughtfully.

“You’re so thoughtful, Dylan. You take such good care of me, and you even remember my parents. I love you so much.” Harper leaned in and kissed his cheek.

Dylan’s face lit up, his small eyes widening happily.

“Love you too,” he murmured, pulling her into his arms. “Come on, let’s go get those supplements for your mom now.”

“But you have to put me down first. I’m not ever dressed or wearing shoes,” Harper protested playfully from his embrace.

“No way.

I’ll carry you while you get ready,” he insisted, heading toward her room.

“You should wait downstairs. It wouldn’t look good if my mom saw you in my room.” Harper whispered.

“It’s fine. I’ll be in here eventually anyway.” Dylan replied with a mischievous grin.

Harper flushed at his implication, too flustered to meet his eyes.
