Naomi’s expression darkened as she pressed Arabella. “Well? Don’t you have anything to say for yourself?”
By now, Arabella was fully awake. Meeting Naomi’s hostile gaze, she replied calmly, “I did go to the mall with Matthew, but it wasn’t what those photos suggest.
“Matthew wanted to buy some supplements for his grandfather but didn’t know what was suitable, so he asked for my advice. I only went because of Robert.
“As for those ‘intimate‘ shots–if you look carefully, they’re clearly taken from misleading angles to create a false impression.”
“You actually did it, and now you’re just making excuses?” Naomi refused to accept Arabella’s explanation.
Arabella let out a cool laugh. “I own my actions. I’ve told you the truth. Whether you believe it or not is up to you.”
Hearing this, Naomi grew even more furious. “What kind of answer is that? Do you think I’ll just drop it with vague excuses like that?
“The pictures speak for themselves, and you’re still standing here lying to my face?”
“Lying to you? I really don’t have the time.” Arabella picked up her own phone, intending to message Colton.
She had no energy to waste on Naomi’s dramaties.
Right now, she needed to trace the source of those photos.
As she unlocked her phone, Arabella saw several notifications from Colton. She opened them and found he had already sent her the same photos.
Frowning, she typed a quick reply, “Take down the account and the site that posted these. Scrub every photo of me from the web. Also, find out who leaked them.”
“On it,” Colton replied instantly.
Jonathan and Florence, sensing the escalating tension, stepped in to mediate. “Naomi, if Arabella says she was just helping Matthew choose supplements, then let’s take her word for
it.”
“That’s right. I know Arabella–she wouldn’t lie about something like this,” Florence added, defending her daughter.

Seeing both her parents side with Arabella, Naomi felt a cold weight settle in her chest.
It seemed blood truly was thicker than water. Even after all her years in this family, she remained the outsider.
When it came down to it, they would always stand by their biological daughter.
Shooting a resentful look at Jonathan and Florence, Naomi retorted, “The evidence is right in front of you, and you’re still defending her. Do you really think I’m inventing this?”
“Naomi, please, let’s all calm down. There must be a misunderstanding. Arabella isn’t that kind of person,” Florence continued, trying to soothe her.
“Mom, there’s no need to explain further. Otherwise, it’ll just seem like I’m guilty and hiding it,” Arabella said. She was now certain someone was deliberately targeting her.
“Arabella, how long are you going to keep up this act? Don’t think I don’t know what you’ve been doing at the hospital all this time.
“You’ve been using Robert’s treatment as an excuse to get close to Matthew, haven’t you?
“Now that you’ve been caught, you’re too scared to admit it. How pathetic!” Naomi sneered, her voice dripping with contempt.
“Let me make one thing clear–as long as Matthew and I are engaged, you can forget about being with him.”
Hearing Naomi’s declaration, Florence could only sigh quietly to herself.
Arabella simply found Naomi’s outburst irrational. With a dismissive chuckle, she said, “Naomi, maybe you see Matthew as a prize, but don’t assume every woman shares your view.
“Let me tell you once more–I go to the hospital to treat Robert. Whether Matthew is there or not is irrelevant to me, and I don’t give it a second thought.
“If you’re so worried about him, watch him more closely. But don’t bring this nonsense to me first thing in the morning.” Having said that, Arabella ignored Naomi and began eating her breakfast. She wasn’t about to let someone else’s antrum ruin her meal.
“You’ve got a real nerve, don’t you? Running to the hospital every day to see Matthew, and then telling me to watch him?
