“Don’t believe me? Do you want to try one?” Robert gestured with the bottle.

“No, that’s quite alright. As long as you’re happy with them, that’s all that matters,” Matthew declined politely. It was enough that his grandfather was pleased.
It seemed taking Arabella to that high–end health store had been the right move. Judging by his grandfather’s reaction, if he had thought the supplements were solely Matthew’s idea, he probably wouldn’t have touched them.
As they were talking, a knock came at the hospital room door.
Matthew looked toward the entrance. “Come in.
The next moment, two familiar figures stepped inside.
“Naomi. What are you doing here?”
When Matthew saw it was Naomi, his expression cooled instantly. He had specifically told her not to visit the hospital again. Not much time had passed, and here she was, disregarding his request entirely–as if his words held no weight.
Neither Naomi nor Ruby had expected to run into Matthew there. Though they both felt a spike of nervousness seeing him, they were already at the threshold. Turning back now was impossible.
Steeling herself, Naomi walked in, with Ruby following closely behind.
“Matthew, you’re here too,” Naomi said, forcing light smile.
Seeing her proceed into the room, Matthew stood up, intending to guide her back out. But before he could act, Naomi turned a warm, bright smile toward Robert.
“Robert, how are you feeling? Any better?”
“Naomi. Come in, have a seat,” Robert said kindly, waving her over when he saw who it was.
Matthew, who had been on his feet to intercepter, saw his grandfather’s welcoming gesture and had no choice but to sit back down reluctantly.
“I’ve been much better lately. What have you been up to? I haven’t seen you in quite a while,” Robert asked, looking at Naomi.
Naomi’s eyes flickered almost imperceptibly toward Matthew before she smiled back at Robert. “I’ve actually been attending flight schoo lately, working on getting my pilot’s license,

“I happened to have the day off today and realized how long it had been, so Ruby and I picked up some supplements and thought we’d stop by,” she explained, her tone gentle.
“But I have to say, you look much more energetic than the last time I saw you,” she added warmly.
“Yes, well, I’ve been following Dr. Macdonald’s regimen very closely. It’s made a world of difference,” Robert agreed. “But a pilot’s license? That’s a new pursuit. What brought that on?” he asked, a note of genuine curiosity in his voice
“Oh, you know, I can drive a car, so I thought why not learn to fly a plane? It’s good to keep learning new skills,” Naomi replied, keeping her one light and positive.
“That’s an admirable attitude. One should always keep expanding their horizons,” Robert said with an approving nod.
“Robert, I brought these supplements thinking they might help with your recovery. Maybe

could try them? If they agree with you, I could always bring more later,” Naomi offered kindly, her expression sincere.
“That’s very thoughtful of you, Naomi. I do appreciate it,” Robert began, his tone turning apologetic. “But for now, I’m strictly following Dr. Macdonald’s instructions. I have to be very careful about anything outside her protocol.”
Not wanting to seem dismissive of her gift, he quickly continued, “But that’s perfectly fine. Even if I can’t take them, I’m sure Matthew could use them. He’s been working late hours at the firm; he could probably use the extra nutrients.
“How about we give these to Matthew instead?” Robert suggested, looking to Naomi for her consent, as they were originally her gift.
Hearing Robert redirect the gift to Matthew, Nani’s heart lifted. “Of course, that’s fine with me. I just hope… Matthew likes them,” she said, casting an uncertain glance his way.
Just as Matthew opened his mouth to offer a polite refusal, Robert spoke first. “He’ll take them. I’ll make sure he does before he leaves today.”
“Grandpa, I have plenty of supplements at home already,” Matthew said, careful to keep his refusal mild in front of his grandfather.
“What difference does that make? You can add these to the rotation,” Robert dismissed his objection easily. He couldn’t very well have Naoghi take the gift back home after she’d made the effort to bring it.
The truth was, he couldn’t just take any random onics these days; otherwise, he’d
