Chapter 158 An Unwanted Confrontation

“What are you doing here?” Ruby asked, her voice dripping with disdain.

“This academy isn’t your private property. Of course I can be here,” Arabella replied, her tone equally cool and far from friendly.

“You-”

“Me, what? If Frank hadn’t approved your attendance, you’d be the one who doesn’t belong here,” Arabella shot back without hesitation.

Arabella had spotted Naomi and Ruby from a distance and had had no intention of engaging. She hadn’t expected Ruby to walk right over and start trouble.

Lucas watched Arabella’s sharp retort leave Ruby momentarily speechless, a flicker of appreciation in his eyes. When dealing with people who actively sought conflict, holding back wasn’t necessary.

Ruby glared, fury burning in her eyes as she wanted to lash out. But with Lucas standing right there, she swallowed her anger, though her hateful stare remained fixed on Arabella. Let her be smug for now. She’d get her back when Lucas wasn’t around. “I don’t have time to stand here and bicker with you.”

“Lucas, are you free after your sessions today?” Ruby turned her attention back to him, a simpering smile on her face.

“No, we have to get to a lesson. We’re heading out now.” Unwilling to indulge Ruby any further, Lucas began walking toward the seminar rooms.

Watching Lucas and Arabella walk away togethe Ruby stamped her foot in frustration.

“That infuriating Arabella, always glued to Lucas Doesn’t she have Kyle as her instructor? Why is she still with Lucas?” Ruby grumbled under her breath.

“I heard she requested a change. Lucas is her primary instructor now,” Naomi mentioned offhandedly.

“She requested a change? Who gave her that autority?” Ruby looked bewildered.

“I’m not sure. She probably went through Frank Naomi guessed.

“Well, if she can go to Frank to switch instructors, why can’t we?” Ruby’s eyes gleamed with a sudden idea as she turned to Naomi.

pushing it. Don’t get your hopes up. Just come with me and focus on the lesson.” Naomi knew approaching Frank would be futile, so she hadn’t even considered it.

“But I want Lucas to be my instructor too,” Ruby whined, slipping into the petulant tone of a spoiled girl.

“Then stand here by yourself. I’m going to class. Naomi turned and walked purposefully toward the flight simulator bay.

Seeing Naomi actually leave her behind, Ruby hurried after her. “Naomi, you’re really ditching me? I just helped you sort things out with Robert. Now that you’re fine, you’re abandoning me?”

Naomi had to stop and look at her. “I’m not ditching you. There’s genuinely nothing we can do about this. Frank won’t agree.

“He definitely won’t. If you refuse to believe me, go ahead and try calling him yourself.” Naomi sighed, exasperated.

Ruby pouted, unhappy. She knew Naomi wasn’t lying; it was likely true. Calling Frank would probably just waste her time.

With that, Naomi and Ruby entered the flight simulator training room together.

As soon as they stepped inside, Ruby spotted Lucas intently explaining something to Arabella by one of the simulators.

“Naomi, look–they’re here too,” Ruby said, surprised. She hadn’t expected Lucas to be in the simulator bay.

Seeing him, some of Ruby’s irritation dissipated

Naomi also looked over, confused. “What’s going on? Shouldn’t she still be in ground school? Why is she already in the simulator room?”

“Lucas must be a really good instructor if she’s progressed this fast,” Ruby muttered, her cheeks puffing out with renewed annoyance.

“Some people just get all the luck–landing the best instructors for everything. Meanwhile, we get stuck with the ordinary ones.” Her voice was thick with envy.

“Ahem.” Kyle cleared his throat pointedly.

He had heard every word they’d just said–the comment about him being an “ordinary” instructor. Did they not realize he was standing right there?

Hearing the cough, Naomi and Ruby turned toward the sound.
