Fuming, Freya stormed out of the room, pulled out her phone, and scrolled angrily for Edward’s contact. She stabbed the call button.
“Has that little witch Arabella been anywhere near you lately?” Freya demanded, her annoyance palpable.
Hearing the fury in his mother’s tone, Edward grew concerned. “Mom, what’s got you so worked up? What’s happened?”
“That little brat Arabella–she took a bunch of compromising photos of Harper and Dylan and posted them all over social media! The internet is flooded with these disgusting, shameless pictures right now. It’s absolutely infuriating!”
“Mom, just take a breath for a second. I really don’t think Arabella would do something like that. There must be some kind of mistake,” Edward reasoned, instinctively defending Arabella.
“What ‘mistake‘ could there possibly be? I know it was her! You probably haven’t even heard yet, have you? Dylan’s hand was smashed–crippled–by thugs she sent after him. And now this photo business? She definitely orchestrated that too! Who else would have such a massive vendetta against Harper and Dylan?” Freya’s voice rose, grating on Edward’s nerves.
“Dylan’s hand was crippled? When did that happen?” Edward asked, genuinely shocked.
“Just a few days ago! I knew that scheming girl wouldn’t tell you a thing. You’re completely in the dark.
“I don’t have time for this back–and–forth. Just give me that girl’s address. Now,” Freya press impatiently.
“I don’t actually know Arabella’s home address, Mom. Please, just calm down first. This situation feels more complicated than it looks.
“Even if Arabella and Harper have their issues, she’s still just a young woman. She wouldn’t hire people to assault Dylan. This whole thing smells wrong. It could be someone else pulling strings behind the scenes, trying to pin it on Arabella. Don’t let yourself be manipulated,” Edward pleaded earnestly, trying to dial back his mother’s rage.
But Freya was beyond listening. She was already convinced of Arabella’s guilt, and Edward’s words were just noise.

“Stop making excuses for her!” she snapped. “You two are as thick as thieves–don’t try to tell me you don’t know where she lives. Don’t lie to me. Tell me right now I’m coming down to that hospital to get it out of you myself.” She simply refused to beli hito.
Edward felt trapped. Even his own mother didn’t trust him now. What was he supposed to do!
“Mom, even if you come to the hospital. I’m telling you the truth–I don’t know her add Please, just take a step back and look into this more carefully, he continued, trying to reason with her.
“So that’s how it is, Edward? You’re choosing to ignore me just to protect that little witch?
“Fine. Since you won’t tell me, I’ll just wait for her at the hospital. I don’t believe for a second she won’t come to visit you.” With that, Freya ended the call abruptly.
Edward stared at the dark screen of his phone, his face clouded with worry.
Without a moment’s delay, he quickly found Arabella’s number and called her.
“Arabella, do you have a minute to talk?” Edward asked, an uncharacteristic note of panic threading his voice.
Arabella immediately picked up on the strange tension. “Edward? Is everything okay? You sound off,” she asked, her own voice turning serious.
Edward took a steadying breath, forcing his tone into something lighter. “It’s nothing, really. I was just checking in to see what you were up to.
Hearing his attempt at normalcy, Arabella relaxed slightly. “Oh, I’m just having a barbecue with the family. Have you eaten yet?”
“Not yet. I’m not really hungry right now,” Edward replied.
“Do you want me to bring you some barbecue tonight? We’ve got plenty,” Arabella offered warmly.
“No! Don’t come over. The thought of barbecue turns my stomach right now,” Edward insisted, his voice firm.
“Okay, okay, no barbecue. Why so jumpy? What do you want to eat then? I can swing by with something later,” Arabella laughed, continuing to press.
“I don’t want anything. The hospital provides everything I need. Listen, if there’s nothing urgent, maybe don’t visit the hospital at all for a while. We can always talk on the phone if we need to,” Edward said, his tone turning unusually serious.
