Chapter 226 Behind the Scenes
Chapter 226 Behind the Scenes
“Of course I trust you to take good care of her,” Florence explained with a warm smile.
It was just that this daughter, whom they had searched for so long to find, occupied her thoughts constantly. She couldn’t help but worry and wanted to be sure she was alright.
Alfred picked up on this and teased gently, “So Mom just missed Arabella, huh?”
“You cheeky boy.” Florence couldn’t help but chide him affectionately.
Immediately, lighthearted laughter filled the great room.

Arabella felt a sweet warmth in her chest. She moved her wheelchair closer to Florence. “Then I’ll go upstairs with you now so you can rest.”
After all, this was her mother’s usual routine, and she didn’t want her to change it on her account.
Florence felt reassured and patted Arabella’s hand. “You can come up with me, but you don’t need to stay with me. You should get some proper rest yourself.”
She didn’t want to tire out her precious daughter, especially while Arabella was still recovering.
After watching the two head toward the elevator, Alfred shrugged. “I’m heading back to my room, too.”
He still had important matters to attend to.
Knowing what he was referring to, Frank and Ethan exchanged a nod before retreating to their own
quarters.
Once in his room, Alfred immediately took out his phone. “Check if a formal police report has been filed. I need all the details,” he instructed, his voice low.
After hanging up, his gaze turned icy.
How dare someone hurt his sister and then have the nerve to play the victim?
A short while later, his phone rang. Alfred answered. “Report.”
“The police received the complaint, but they haven’t opened a formal case. The statements from the reporting family are inconsistent, and there’s no physical evidence. It’s all based on their word…”
“Understood,” Alfred said. Hearing that the police hadn’t proceeded due to lack of evidence, the sharp edge in his demeanor softened slightly, but the coldness remained in his eyes.
Even so, he couldn’t let those who had bullied his sister get off lightly.
“Go and take care of something for me…”

After ending the call, Alfred checked the time. He considered going to see Arabella but worried she might be resting, so he decided not to disturb her.
Soon, evening arrived, and the family gathered in the formal dining room for dinner.
Ethan looked down at the plate of grilled salmon with steamed vegetables–another meticulously balanced, nutrient–rich meal–and sighed inwardly. Sure enough, it was another health–conscious dinner.
He glanced up at Arabella. Knowing this food was carefully planned for her recovery, he simply lowered his head and ate without complaint.
Arabella herself wasn’t overly concerned with the menu, but she noticed Ethan’s resigned expression. She turned to Florence. “Mom, my foot is much better now. How about we keep things a little simpler tomorrow?”
“You want plainer food?” Florence hesitated, thinking Arabella still needed nourishing meals.
Arabella nodded. “Yes, and really, my injury is healing well. I don’t need heavy supplements anymore. A normal, balanced diet is perfect. Too much of a good thing can sometimes be hard on the body.”
“You should listen to Arabella. She is a doctor, after all, and knows what’s best,” Jonathan advised gently.
Florence thought it over for a moment, then relented. “Alright then. From now on, just tell me what you’re in the mood for, and I’ll have the kitchen prepare it.”
“Thanks, Mom!” Arabella smiled sweetly. It truly felt wonderful to be so cared for by her family.
Relieved at the prospect of more varied future meals, Ethan shot Arabella a grateful look, followed by a questioning one, as if to ask, “Are you sure you’re really okay?”
Arabella gave him a reassuring smile. “Don’t worry. I’m perfectly fine. You’re with me at the hospital every day–you should know better than anyone.”
Hearing that, Ethan felt properly reassured.
“Ethan, have you sorted out all the preliminary work for the lab expansion?” Jonathan asked casually during the meal.
“What expansion?” Alfred asked, curious.
Jonathan briefly filled Alfred in on Ethan’s plan to invest in and expand Arabella’s pharmaceutical research
lab.
“An investment project that caught your eye, Ethan? Arabella’s venture must have serious potential. Alfred said, looking at his sister with clear admiration. She really was a true Hamilton–their sister through and through.
After all, Ethan was an investment genius. Alfred believed his brother’s interest wasn’t just because Arabella was family, but because she genuinely had the skill and vision.
“Alfred, it’s a bit early to say that. The expansion project has only just begun,” Arabella replied, feeling both
