Chapter 229 Close Supervision
“Let’s go.” Alfred started the car and drove toward the address Lucas had provided.
Soon, they arrived at Lucas‘ home.

Knowing they were coming, Lucas had been waiting by the door. He stepped forward as soon as he saw them. “You made it.”
“Have you been waiting long?” Arabella asked.
“Not at all. I’m just glad you’re here–means you’re all healed up.” That alone put his mind at ease.
Plus, from now on, he could teach her flying skills privately. The thought alone made him happy.
“It was just a minor sprain. I’m good now,” Arabella replied.
Lucas smiled. “Then our lessons can officially begin.”
“Sure.” Agreeing, Arabella followed Lucas into the house. As they walked, she remarked, “I didn’t expect your place to be so spacious.”
Even knowing Lucas needed room for a flight simulator, the house still seemed larger than necessary.
Alfred glanced around as well. “Doesn’t really look like a typical flight instructor’s place.”
Even with a decent salary, covering a house this size plus the costs of flying as a hobby seemed… disproportionate.
Lucas‘ expression tightened slightly. “Well, the simulator setup has pretty specific space and environment requirements.”
Arabella didn’t overthink it and nodded, impressed. “You can really tell how passionate you are about flying.”
“That’s true. Lucas felt a hint of pride–that was one thing he’d never deny.
“Alright, let’s get started.” Arabella was here to learn, not to tour the house. Her earlier comment had just been casual curiosity.
“Right this way. More than happy to change the subject, Lucas led them on.
They entered a large, dedicated room where Lucas‘ full–motion simulator was immediately visible. Arabella couldn’t help but comment, “This is definitely more advanced than the ones at the flight school.”
“Training on this, I guarantee you’ll progress faster. There are a few key differences from the school’s models–pay attention here…” Lucas began explaining carefully to Arabella, who listened with focused
interest.
But unintentionally, they had leaned in a bit close. Alfred immediately frowned.

“Lucas, I didn’t quite catch what you just explained over here,” Alfred interjected, drawing both their attention.
“Don’t worry, since you’re just starting, we’ll cover the fundamentals separately. Let me finish with Arabella first, then I’ll go over it with you,” Lucas clarified.
“Alright.” Seeing the distance between them increase again, Alfred felt relieved.
“Arabella, let’s continue.” Lucas resumed his explanation and guided Arabella through the initial procedures.
“Lucas, what’s this switch for?”
“Lucas, how does this throttle quadrant work?”
“Lucas, maybe you could run through that sequence yourself once–might be clearer for us both.”
Throughout the session, whenever Alfred noticed Lucas getting too close to Arabella, he found a reason to speak up.
Lucas, assuming Alfred was just an eager beginner, patiently addressed each question.
Only Arabella found it a bit odd. Alfred wasn’t usually this… chatty during technical things. What was up today?
She glanced at him curiously. “Alfred, you doing okay? Need a break?”
“Not tired at all.” Alfred shook his head. How could he leave? His primary mission was oversight. He looked at Lucas and added, “Let’s keep going.”
His main thought now was for Arabella to finish up so they could leave. He was profoundly glad he’d decided to “learn” too. The idea of someone potentially taking advantage of Arabella didn’t sit right with him. Now he understood why Frank and Ethan had been so cautious.
He looked at Arabella again, his gaze softening. Thankfully, she was a quick study. He was sure she’d get her license in no time. Once she did, Lucas would have one less reason to be around her.
Even though Alfred said he was fine, Arabella thought he might just be putting on a brave face to not disrupt her lesson. She picked up her pace, determined to be efficient.
Finally, just as Alfred was about to ask another question, Lucas spoke first, “You’re picking this up really well. That’s a good place to stop for today.”
Arabella’s rapid progress and aptitude genuinely impressed him.
“Sounds good.” Arabella agreed immediately. She didn’t want to push Alfred if he was tired.
