Chapter 297 An Unexpected Encounter
Arabella frowned. There was something subtly pointed about the way Naomi had phrased that.
“It’s business,” Arabella replied flatly.
“Oh, I see,” Naomi said, secretly relieved.

Truthfully, she had noticed Matthew and Arabella the moment they arrived but hadn’t found the right moment to approach. She’d waited patiently, and when the server opened the door to their private dining area, she seized the chance to walk in.
“Arabella, Matthew is always so busy. Combining work and a meal is pretty typical for him,” Naomi said, adopting a sweet, understanding tone.
Arabella’s eyebrow lifted slightly. What was that supposed to mean?
Was she trying to stake a claim, implying she knew Matthew’s habits better?
“That’s efficient,” Arabella replied lightly. “Two birds with one stone.”
Naomi’s smile tightened. Was Arabella really that oblivious, or was she just pretending?
“Was there something you needed?” Matthew asked coolly when Naomi showed no sign of leaving.
Hurt flashed in Naomi’s eyes, but she forced an understanding nod. “No, of course not. I won’t keep you from your work.”
With that, she finally left the room.
“Your entrees are all served,” the server announced.
“You may leave. Please close the door securely,” Matthew instructed.
“Yes, sir,” the server replied before exiting and shutting the door firmly.
Outside, Naomi stared helplessly at the closed door, which now blocked her view entirely. A wave of frustration washed over her.
She lingered for another moment before finally clenching her jaw and leaving the restaurant.
After lunch, Arabella and Matthew stepped outside.
“I’ll get a draft proposal together based on our discussion and bring it to you as soon as I can,” Arabella said.
“Alright,” Matthew agreed.
“Then, if there’s nothing else, I’ll be on my way,” Arabella said, raising her hand to halt a taxi
“Heading home?” Matthew asked.
“Yes,” she replied. With their discussion wrapped up, of course she was going home–she had a proposal to write.
“I’ll drive you,” Matthew stated, already walking toward the Rolls Royce.
lla hesitated Arabella hesitated slightly. Driving her all the way to Cloudrise Manor seemed like an unnecessary detour for him.

“Not coming?” Matthew paused, looking back when she didn’t follow.
“Really, I’m fine on my own. There’s no need to trouble you, Mr. Stewart,” Arabella insisted, not wanting to impose.
“It’s on my way. Get in,” Matthew said, his tone leaving little room for argument.
“Is it really on the way?” Arabella murmured under her breath, a faint frown on her face.
In the end, she still got into the car. She couldn’t very well just stand there while he waited.
“Do you have business in Sunspire District, Mr. Stewart?” Arabella asked conversationally.
“Yes, a personal matter,” Matthew replied.
Arabella didn’t feel it was her place to pry further, so she simply nodded and let the subject drop.
With the conversation lulling, Arabella pulled out her laptop and began jotting down ideas for the proposal.
Seeing she was occupied, Matthew didn’t disturb her, picking up a financial report instead.

The car moved steadily through the streets, neither of its occupants noticing the sedan that had begun following them a few blocks
back.
Naomi watched from her car as Arabella got into Matthew’s vehicle, a knot of anxiety and irritation tightening in her chest.
“Good thing I waited. Let’s see where they’re headed now,” she murmured, trailing Matthew’s car all the way to the gates of Cloudrise Manor.
“He actually drove her all the way home!” Naomi was stunned.
“It’s just a business partnership. Matthew is being far too accommodating toward her,” she fumed, resentment simmering inside.
She watched Arabella get out, followed by Matthew.
Naomi quickly opened her own car door and stepped out.
“Arabella! You’re back already,” Naomi called out cheerfully before feigning surprise. “Oh, Matthew, you’re here too.”
“You just got back?” Arabella frowned, studying Naomi.
Hadn’t she left the restaurant earlier?
How did she end up arriving home at the exact same time?
The coincidence was a little too perfect.,
“Oh, yes. I didn’t expect you’d be getting back around now too,” Naomi said, her surprise sounding just a touch too rehearsed.
Arabella composed herself and turned to Matthew “Would you like to come in?”
“I should say hello to your parents,” Matthew replied.
“Alright, let’s go in then,” Arabella agreed. Since he was already here, it was only polite to invite him inside.
