Matthew took a few steps back and looked through the glass window at the person lying inside, his expression turning to ice.
Just as he suspected–it was him. The only person Arabella would refer to as a friend here was Lucas.
Pushing the door open, Matthew stepped inside, his tone sharp. “So, a certified flight instructor ends up in the hospital. Did your skills fail you, or was it just bad luck?”
Seeing Matthew, Lucas was stunned. “What are you doing here?”
He had only come to mock him.
“Mr. Stewart, you… Why are you here?” Arabella asked, surprised.
She hadn’t expected Matthew to walk into Lucas‘ room.
“Since we crossed paths, I thought I’d stop by. After all, he is one of my school’s instructors,” Matthew replied evenly.
Lucas glared at Matthew. “I never knew Mr. Stewart was so attentive to his staff.”
Was this really a visit?
It felt more like he’d come to ridicule him.
“Naturally. If this were a training–related incident, the school’s insurance might cover it,” Matthew said, glancing down at Lucas.
“Not necessary. I can handle my own bills, thank you,” Lucas grumbled.
Who wanted his money? Even if it were covered, he wouldn’t take it.
Sensing the tension between them, Arabella sighed inwardly. “Mr. Stewart, didn’t you say you were here to see a friend?”
Hearing such an obvious hint for him to leave, Matthew’s demeanor cooled further.
Was she that eager to get rid of him so she could be alone with Lucas?
“Since Mr. Stewart is here to visit a friend, we won’t keep you,” Lucas said pointedly. Please just leave you’re irritating me
“Andy, arrange for meals to be delivered to him,” Matthew instructed.
“Yes, sir,” Andy replied promptly.
Lucas immediately refused. “No need I’ve had breakfast, and I’ll manage lunch and dinner myself”
Who wanted food from him? All Lucas wanted was for Matthew to leave
Matthew’s eyebrow lifted almost imperceptibly. “In that case…”
“Andy, take the thermal container. Let’s go.” With that, Matthew turned and walked out.
“Mr. Stewart, that’s mine!” Arabella was stunned. What was happening?

“Since he’s already eaten, it would be a waste to throw it out,” Matthew said without looking back.

Andy offered an apologetic smile as he picked up the container from the bedside table. “Dr. Hamilton, I’ll take this with me.”
After speaking, he wiped his brow and hurried after Matthew.
“Hey…” Arabella tried to stop him, but it was too late.
Catching up to Matthew, Andy breathed a quiet sigh of relief. At least he’d done what was asked.
Why were Matthew’s requests getting stranger lately?
‘You jerk–give me back my soup!” Lucas‘ angry shout followed them from the room.
Matthew’s mood lifted slightly, and his steps became even more brisk.
Arabella tried to console Lucas. “I’ll bring you more tomorrow.”
‘He did that on purpose,” Lucas muttered, still irritated.
Well…” Arabella gave an awkward smile. “Maybe he genuinely didn’t want it to go to waste.”
Otherwise, she couldn’t explain Matthew’s behavior.
Lucas was thoroughly annoyed. That was something Arabella had made for him–how could Matthew just take it?
Your health is what matters. Don’t get worked up. Just focus on resting,” Arabella said soothingly. “For lunch, I’ll have something ent over from The Riverfront.”
t was her oversight, so she wanted to make it up to him.
Seeing Arabella’s apologetic look, Lucas shook his head. “It’s fine. The caregiver can help me order something.”
It’s no trouble. I’ll arrange for it to be delivered,” Arabella said gently.
‘Really, don’t bother. The caregiver can easily get food from nearby,” Lucas insisted.
Arabella thought for a moment. “Alright then. I’ll come by tomorrow”
Lucas looked at her, a hopeful gleam in his eyes. “You’re sure you’ll come tomorrow?”
“Of course,” Arabella promised.
Not fully noticing the look in his eyes, Arabella reminded him of a few more things before leaving
