The sales associate was startled, her face paling slightly. “Miss, are you alright?”

Taking a deep breath, Naomi did her best to regain her composure. She straightened up and replied, “I’m fine.”

‘So… you don’t want the item anymore?” The associate gathered her courage to confirm.

Naomi could only say, “Never mind. Please wrap it up for me.”

‘Alright,” the associate replied. “Will you be taking it with you, or shall we arrange a delivery?”

After completing the payment, Naomi said, “I’ll take it now.”

Handing over the shopping bag, the associate offered politely, “Take care. Have a wonderful day.”

Carrying the bag, Naomi turned and walked away.

The associate let out a quiet sigh, placing a hand over her chest. “That was a bit intense just now.”

‘Yeah, she seemed so polite and gentle earlier. I didn’t expect her to snap like that.”

‘You have to see it from her perspective. She just lost face in front of the person she likes.”

‘What do you mean?”

Hearing the murmurs behind her, Naomi felt as if she’d been publicly slapped. All she wanted was to quicken her pace and leave the place as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, Arabella and Ethan had accompanied Matthew. After he purchased the vitamins and supplements, they finally exited the department store.

“Mr. Stewart, am I free to go now?” Arabella couldn’t help shooting Matthew a sideways glance.

This man never missed an opportunity to enlist her help!

Matthew gave a satisfied nod. “Thank you.”

“You’re welcome.” Arabella forced a smile, though it felt a bit tight around the edges.

Noticing her expression, the corner of Matthew’s mouth twitched upward almost imperceptibly.

Still smiling? How could he still be smiling?!

“Hmph,” Arabella let out a soft, disgruntled sound, making her displeasure clear before promptly getting into the passenger seat

“Goodbye, Mr. Stewart,” Ethan called out.

Matthew nodded in acknowledgment. “Goodbye.”

Ethan got into the driver’s seat and pulled away from the curb.

“Ethan, I just transferred the money for the gifts to you, including Alfred’s portion,” Arabella said, sending the payment on her phone.

Ethan smiled helplessly. “You really don’t have to be so formal with me.”

“It’s different. If you were buying something for me, that would be one thing. But these are gifts for someone else, so of course I should cover my share.” Besides, Alfred had given her the funds as well. She couldn’t just keep them.

“Alright then. Next time, I’ll buy something just for you,” Ethan said with a grin.

Arabella flashed a playful smile. “In that case, I won’t hold back!”

“It’s a deal,” he replied. He was actually more concerned that Arabella might refuse his gestures.

Sensing Ethan’s genuine care, Arabella’s smile softened happily.

As evening settled in, Arabella and Ethan returned to Cloudrise Manor.

“Mom, Dad,” they greeted Jonathan and Florence upon entering the living room.

“You’re back. Come, sit down,” Florence said with a warm smile.

After taking a seat on the sofa, Florence gestured toward several shopping bags on the coffee table. “These were just delivered. They said they’re for the two of you.”

“Oh, these are the birthday gifts we picked out for Naomi,” Arabella said, setting two of the bags aside. She opened another and explained, “And these are some wellness supplements. I got them for you and Dad.”

“For us?” Florence exclaimed, pleasantly surprised.

“Yeah, when we were picking out Naomi’s gift today, we ran into Matthew buying some things for Robert. I saw a few items that seemed perfect for you two, so I got them as well,” Arabella explained.

Florence’s eyes instantly lit up. “So you went out with Matthew today!”

Arabella was momentarily stunned and speechless. Hadn’t she just explained clearly? How did it turn into a date?

“Mom, Ethan and I went shopping together and just happened to run into Mr. Stewart,” Arabella clarified.

Florence shot Ethan a mock–stern look. “Next time, try not to get in the way of these coincidences.”

Ethan felt a pang of unjustified blame. How was this his fault?

The corner of Arabella’s mouth twitched. She decisively changed the subject.

“Mom, this bottle is for you, and that one is for Dad. If you feel good after trying them, I can get more.”

“Alright, sweetheart. You’re so thoughtful,” Florence said, her face beaming with pride.

Jonathan nodded in agreement. “Anything you choose is sure to be excellent.”

Arabella secretly breathed a sigh of relief. As long as the focus wasn’t on Matthew, everything was fine.

Ethan subtly gave Arabella a thumbs–up from his seat and whispered, “Smooth recovery.”
