If she’d known Matthew was going to be there, she wouldn’t have agreed so quickly. Those two needed some time alone–her tagging along would just make her the third wheel.
She tried calling Brielle back, but the line was busy.
A little helpless, Arabella let out another quiet sigh and sent a quick text, “Hey Brielle, something just came up for lunch today. Let’s plan for another time, okay?”
Then, remembering what Brielle had mentioned earlier, Arabella decided to call Colton.
“Harper and Dylan are out,” she said without preamble.
“Got it. I’ll look into it,” Colton replied.
“Alright.” Arabella ended the call.
Setting her phone aside, she picked up the stack of documents next to her and soon lost herself in work…
Around noon, Arabella stood up, stretched her neck and shoulders, and headed out to get some lunch.

“Right this way, sir.”
Arabella glanced up and was surprised to see Andy. No wonder the voice had sounded familiar.
Andy noticed her too and offered a polite nod as he passed. “Dr. Hamilton, having lunch here as well?”

Hadn’t Brielle said they were meeting at West Coast Grill?
Matthew’s eyes narrowed almost imperceptibly. His voice was low and cool. “Where else would I be?”
“But Brielle said she was meeting you for… Had she misheard?
Matthew’s expression turned noticeably colder. “And how would you know that?”
“Oh, never mind,” Arabella said quickly, shaking her head. Something felt off–better not to press.
Seeing how casually she dismissed the topic, Matthew felt a wave of irritation. A hint of sarcasm tinted his tone. “Didn’t realize you were such a matchmaker.”
She had her own boyfriend, and now she was trying to set other people up?
“Huh?” Arabella looked genuinely puzzled. Matchmaker? What was he talking about?
Before she could make sense of it, Matthew had already walked past her toward the private
