Unemployed Family? Hidden Tycoons Dote On Her novel Chapter 567

Everyone was aware that Horizon Corp's legal team, along with Andy, had already set the record straight. Since Andy spoke on Matthew's behalf, it was clear this reflected Matthew's own position.

Matthew glanced down, lifted his cup, and took a slow sip. "Of course not."

"Oh, that's what I thought," Arabella replied, sounding relieved.

"Dr. Hamilton, if I may—the real reason Mr. Stewart didn't sleep well is that he never expected this situation to drag out for a full day," Andy explained, then cautiously added, "Don't you think the whole thing seems a little... unusual?"

"Not really," Arabella said.

Matthew's eyes dimmed slightly. She really didn't seem bothered.

Andy's nerves tightened. He pressed further, "So... you don't believe what the news reported?"

"Of course not," Arabella answered flatly. "Anyone who bought that story would have to be pretty gullible."

"I figured if it occurred to me, Mr. Stewart would have picked up on it too, so I knew it'd get cleared up fairly quickly. It's just..." She looked at Matthew, a faint trace of confusion in her expression. "I didn't expect you weren't home that night."

He'd been there for dinner—she knew that much.

Arabella asked, "Why were you at a hotel so late? What were you doing there?"

Matthew's expression turned cool. "What do you think I was doing?"

What was she implying? What did she imagine he'd been doing at a hotel?

Arabella's gaze remained completely clear. "I don't know. That's why I'm asking.

"Of course, if it's not something you want to share, you don't have to answer. I was just curious." After all, he didn't owe her an explanation.

Matthew's breath hitched. His face darkened, and a wave of frustration rose inside him.

What did she mean, not something he wanted to share? What exactly did she think was so private?

"There were... unwanted guests at the house, so I stayed elsewhere," Matthew finally said, his tone measured.

He was worried that if he didn't clarify, Arabella might get the wrong idea about him.

"Oh, I see," she said, nodding slightly.

Noticing her expression hadn't changed at all, Matthew couldn't help but frown.

She really did seem to be asking just for the sake of it—the actual answer didn't appear to matter much to her.

He let out a quiet sigh, feeling an unexpected pang of disappointment.

Shifting his gaze away, Matthew changed the subject. "You came straight from flight school, right? Have you been putting in a lot of training hours lately?"

"Yeah, the checkride's tomorrow, so I've been doing prep flights these past few days," Arabella explained.

Matthew gave a slow nod. "I see. So you'll have your pilot's license soon."

"Mhmm," Arabella said, a small smile touching her lips. "Lucas and Brielle are taking me out to celebrate tomorrow."

Chapter 567 Small Talk 1

"I didn't need anything to begin with," Arabella replied, sounding genuinely surprised. Aren't you the one who pulls me aside to talk?
