Unemployed Family? Hidden Tycoons Dote On Her novel Chapter 611

Matthew's expression darkened instantly, and his voice took on a low, warning tone. "Watch your words. You're not in any position to tell me what to do."

Brielle pulled her shoulders in slightly, looking a little defensive, and lowered her voice. "I'm not telling you what to do. I'm just thinking about Arabella. If it were anyone else you were dragging around, I wouldn't even care."

That line of reasoning made Matthew's face flush with irritation. What was wrong with this girl's way of thinking?

"Mr. Stewart, why don't we step over there? Quite a few guests have been hoping for an introduction," Caleb suggested with an ingratiating smile, trying to gently steer Matthew away.

Matthew glanced toward Arabella, but she wasn't even looking his way—instead, she was leaning in, whispering something to Brielle. He let out a frustrated sigh and gave a stiff nod. "Fine."

Caleb breathed a quiet sigh of relief, then shot Brielle a sharp, warning look.

Please, little troublemaker, don't start any drama.

Brielle stuck her tongue out playfully at Caleb before turning back to Arabella with a mischievous grin. Looping her arm through Arabella's, she chirped, "Come on, let's check out the buffet—they have so much good stuff over there."

Seeing the excitement sparkling in Brielle's eyes, Arabella couldn't help teasing her. "Such a foodie."

Brielle giggled, tugging Arabella happily toward the spread of food.

Since this wasn't a work function, Arabella decided she might as well relax and hang out with Brielle. Sounded like a pretty good plan.

When they reached the buffet area, it really was impressive—elegantly arranged platters, decadent desserts, and vibrant fresh fruit.

"Here, try this juice," Brielle said, handing her a glass.

"Thanks," Arabella replied, accepting it. "So, what brings you to an event like this anyway?"

"Just another boring networking thing. I didn't really want to come, but my dad insisted," Brielle explained, looking somewhat resigned.

Then her expression brightened. "Thank goodness you're here, though. Now it won't be so dull."

"Yeah, I'm a little surprised to see you, too," Arabella admitted. "But it's nice having company."

Otherwise, she'd probably be pretty bored herself. It wasn't a business meeting, and she hardly knew anyone.

"See? That's why we get along so well," Brielle beamed, picking up a slice of cake. "This one's amazing. Want some?"

"Sure," Arabella said, taking the plate.

"Oh, and that tart over there—and those mini desserts! And don't forget the fruit, we should grab some of those too..."

Before long, Arabella's plate was piled high with a little bit of everything.

"Okay, that's really enough. I can't eat all this," Arabella said, her lips quirking slightly at the overflowing plate. It was way too much food.
