"Agh!"

He howled in pain.

And shot right off of me!

I scrambled to my feet and yanked my dress back into place as fast as I could.

Hailey was still giggling on the sidelines.

"It was all just a joke. Can't you take one?"

Asher rubbed his nose. A flicker of guilt crossed his eyes, but he still chose to side with Hailey.

"Isabelle... it's my wedding day. Everyone's just messing around, don't take it to heart."

I was shaking with rage. Humiliation and anger washed over me.

I couldn't take it anymore.

I walked step by step toward Hailey.

Standing in front of her, I swung my arm around and gave her a huge slap across the face.

She stood there, frozen, as five red finger marks appeared on her face.

Asher panicked too, rushing over to shield Hailey.

"Isabelle... are you crazy?"

After a few seconds, Hailey clutched her face and started sobbing hysterically.

Still crying, she scrambled off the bed and lunged at me.

"Isabelle! How the fuck dare you hit me!"

"You're just jealous! The truth is, you've had a thing for Asher for a while now, haven't you! But my husband wasn't interested, and you can't stand it!"

"My husband is the CEO of his company. He's not in the same class as people like you. You're not even worthy of tying his shoes!"

Asher rubbed Hailey's back, trying to calm her down. "Hailey, baby, that's enough, stop..."

I just laughed.

Asher and I aren't in the same class? He's out of my league?

"Asher, have you ever told her who the investor in your company is?"

The color drained from Asher's face.

I continued:

"Your wife wants you to cut ties with me. I think she has a point."

"So, I'm not going to get involved in your company's business anymore. That two million dollars I invested? I'm pulling it."

"Also, the money you gave Hailey for the wedding—you borrowed that from me. I want it back. Now. Immediately."
