“Don’t be ridiculous. Without those shares, are we supposed to rely on the Hart family forever?” Nathan’s patience thinned.
If she had not made such a spectacle before, things would not have spiraled this far.
“And if I say no?” Camille asked softly.
Nathan stood and looked down at her. “Camille, you know how much those shares mean to me. You love me, don’t you? Then think about me. Think about us. Otherwise… maybe we should just end this properly.”
He turned as if to leave.
Panic surged through her. She grabbed his hand tightly. “Don’t go. Fine. I’ll agree.”
She was terrified that if he walked out angry, he might never come back.
She wrapped her arms around his waist. “But it’s just on paper, right? Once you get the shares, we remarry.”
“Of course,” Nathan said, exhaling. He handed her a card. “Don’t stress too much. You’re pregnant, so take care of yourself. If you want to shop, use this. I hired a nanny too. Let her handle things.”
“Okay, honey.”
Camille’s eyes flickered, her smile forced.
“Oh, one more thing,” Nathan added. “Swiftline has been acquired by Velmora Media. You’ll be reporting to Velmora starting tomorrow.”
Camille released him, brows knitting together. “Is Elena going to make things difficult for me?”
“Why not just quit? You’re pregnant. Working will be exhausting,” Nathan suggested cautiously.
If the two of them crossed paths at Velmora, things could get messy.
Camille rejected the idea immediately. “Velmora Media is under Pinnacle Group. I’m not giving that up. I know you’re worried about tension, but I can ignore her.”
Her tone carried a trace of resentment.
She had fought hard for this opportunity.

And with Elena there, especially after that fire coverage stole the spotlight, she had no intention of backing down.
After leaving, Elena and Sophia stopped by the bank to retrieve Everlove Heart from the safe deposit box.
“Elena, why take it out now?” Sophia asked, eyes lighting up at the jewelry.
She had once considered buying that set as a wedding gift for Elena and Alexander.
Back then, it had just so happened that Elena liked it too.
“I’m donating it,” Elena said, closing the box after one last look.
“Donating it?” Sophia’s eyes widened.
Elena nodded. “I only bought it out of spite back then. I don’t even like it. I kept it in the vault in case Nathan asked about it. Now that we’re done, there’s no point.”
She handed her phone to the driver. “Take us here.”
“Yes.”
Twenty minutes later, the car stopped in front of an antique shop.
Sophia stepped out, glanced at the sign, and could not hide her surprise. Elena really did have layers she had never seen.
Elena walked in confidently in her heels. “Grant.”
In a rattan chair sat an elderly man with silver hair, fanning himself while listening to old recordings.
He opened his eyes at the sound of her voice and straightened up with a grin. “Ellie, you’re here.”

Sophia dropped her usual playful tone and stood respectfully behind Elena. “Hello, Mr. Jones.”
Grant Jones had once been the president of Aurelian University in Crownridge. After retiring ten years ago, he returned quietly to Grayhaven. Very few people knew he ran an antique shop tucked away in this unremarkable alley.
