Otherwise, why won’t Sophia even tell me which room he’s in?
A wall had collapsed onto him. So many bricks. How much pain must he be in?
No matter why Alexander had stepped in to shield her, she could never repay what he had done.

Chapter 121 No Discharge
His grip tightened on Nathan’s shoulders.

“Even if there’s only a one percent chance, we don’t gamble with it. If Elena knows something and exposes it, everything we’ve built is finished. Think about that. All these years, what have you been working for? Are you really going to let it all fall apart because of one woman?”
The pressure on Nathan’s shoulders hurt, but his mind cleared.
“I understand.”
Victor’s tone softened slightly. “I know you’re too soft–hearted for this. I’ll handle it.”
“…Okay.”
Nathan returned to his room.
Camille was lying on the bed. When she saw him, she immediately noticed his expression. “What’s wrong? You don’t look good.”
Nathan forced a smile and gently brushed her hair. “Nothing. I’m just worried about doctor said you should be hospitalized. Why won’t you stay?”
you.

“I’m fine,” Camille said, leaning into him, masking the unease in her eyes. “I just don’t want to cause trouble for you and Victoria. I’ll be okay after a few days of rest.”
She softened her voice. “Thank you for choosing me earlier.”
Any resentment she had faded.
In that moment, he chose her over Elena. That was enough.
Nathan kissed her forehead. “You’re carrying my child. Of course I chose you.”
She looked up at him, half teasing, half testing. “What if I wasn’t pregnant? Would choose me?”
you still
His lashes lowered slightly, hiding something deeper. “From now on, it’s just you, as long as you behave.”

Chapter 119 Hospital Lines
Nathan walked in and immediately noticed Alexander sitting beside the bed. Surprise flickered across his face.
“Mr. Kingsley, I didn’t expect to see you here.”
He had known Sophia was working as Elena’s assistant, so her presence made sense, but Alexander being there clearly unsettled him.
Alexander did not respond. He merely glanced at Nathan, his gaze cool and unreadable.
For some reason, Nathan felt that look was even colder than usual.
“You needed something from me?” Elena asked calmly.
Nathan hesitated, glancing at Sophia and Alexander as if hoping for privacy.
Alexander understood perfectly well but remained seated, scrolling through his phone, making no move to leave.
With no other choice, Nathan spoke. “Elena, there’s something I need to talk to you about.”
Elena’s eyes flickered slightly. She had a feeling she knew what this was about. She turned her head toward Alexander and said quietly, “Mr. Kingsley.”
Just those two words were enough.
Alexander rose without argument and left with Sophia, closing the door behind them.
The unspoken understanding between them irritated Nathan more than he cared to admit.
The moment the door shut, he spoke in a low, urgent tone. “Why are you getting so close to Alexander? I know you’re angry at me, but he’s not like me. He’s married. His wife comes from a powerful family. If she finds out about whatever this is, she won’t let it slide. You don’t need to put yourself in danger just to get back at me.”
He could still picture the way Alexander had looked at him earlier. As a man, he recognized that expression.
Elena slowly lifted her injured leg, the thick layers of gauze clearly visible. “Is there anything more dangerous than this?”
It was a pointed reminder that when things had turned dangerous, he had chosen Camille.
“I took Camille to the hospital first, but I went back for you,” Nathan insisted. “I was trying to save you too.”
