Chapter 291 Waiting Game
As time dragged on, Elena found herself growing more and more restless.

Chloe leaned in close, lowering her voice so no one else could hear. “Why is it taking so long? You don’t think something went wrong, do you?”
“It’ll be fine,” Elena said quietly.
It was hard to tell whether she was reassuring Chloe or herself.
The longer it takes, the worse it usually is…
Just as that thought crossed her mind, the operating room doors finally opened. Gideon stepped out, still in his scrubs.
Elena and Nicole both rushed forward.
“Dr. Flores, how is Gordon?” Nicole asked anxiously.
“The surgery was successful,” Gideon said, pulling off his mask with a reassuring smile. “He’s still very young, so we’ll keep him in the ICU for observation. Once he gets through the critical period, he should be fine. Try not to worry too much.”
“That’s great… that’s great…” Nicole burst into tears of relief and hugged Elena tightly. “Thank you… thank you so much…”
When Gordon was wheeled out and transferred into the ICU, Nicole refused to leave, staying right outside
the room.
Elena stood by the glass window and looked inside. Seeing that his condition was stable, she finally let out the breath she had been holding.
He’s okay now.
She and Chloe headed downstairs together.
“That was terrifying,” Chloe said, still shaken. “I was seriously worried something bad was going to happen. Thank God everything worked out.”
“Yeah,” Elena said.
“Now that he’s through this, things should only get better from here, right?” Chloe added with a relieved
smile.
They both smiled as they walked toward the lobby.
Just as they were about to head out, Chloe suddenly grabbed Elena’s arm.
“Wait, look,” Chloe said, nudging her.
Elena followed her gaze.

Chapter 291 Waiting Game
Camille.
Finished
She was standing off to the side, holding her bag, looking completely out of it, as if she had lost focus on everything around her.
Instead of heading toward the elevators, she pushed open the stairwell door and started walking upstairs,
“Let’s follow her,” Chloe said immediately, her eyes lighting up.
Elena frowned. “Follow her for what?”
Elena had zero interest in seeing Camille’s face. It was the last thing she needed messing with her mood. Especially now.
Staying in a good headspace mattered more than ever during pregnancy.
What if I let something like this get to me and it somehow affects the baby? What if the stress actually shows?
“Come on,” Chloe insisted. “Didn’t you see her face? She looked totally off. Something’s definitely going on.”
Elena hesitated.
She had noticed it too. In the end, she sighed and followed Chloe upstairs.
They moved quietly, keeping a distance as if they were afraid of being noticed.
Camille walked slowly, completely unaware that someone was behind her, her mind clearly somewhere else.
When she reached the third floor, she pushed open a door and walked in.
Chloe’s eyes widened instantly. She grabbed Elena’s arm and whispered excitedly, “No way… that’s OB–GYN. Don’t tell me something happened after she got back with Nathan?“/
