Unwanted Fake Wife The Top Billionaire novel Chapter 30

Chapter 30 The Ultimatum

“Dad, why are you so hard on Camille?” Victoria finally said. “She’s not some schemer.”

She genuinely believed Camille was better for Nathan. Smarter, prettier, better connected.

Charles didn’t hesitate.

“She thinks too much,” he said sharply. “If she really had a good heart, she wouldn’t have stayed in the Hart family after the truth came out. She wouldn’t have tried every trick in the book to hang onto that name.”

He looked from Nathan to Victoria. “I don’t care what history you had with her. Elena is your wife. You’re going to treat her like it. And if you still want those shares, I want to see a baby on the way within the next month.”

The silence that followed was deafening. Nathan and Victoria both stared at him, stunned.

They’d been planning to use this next month to wrap everything up–get the shares, push Elena out. Charles had just blown up their entire strategy.

Outside the kitchen, Elena stood frozen, hearing every word.

She understood what Charles was doing. He didn’t actually expect her to get pregnant. He just wanted to give her something–something that would tie her to Nathan, something that would keep her relevant.

But what Charles didn’t know… was that she had never mattered to Nathan. To him, she was just a tool to get what he wanted. And once he had it, she’d be gone.

After dinner, Elena stayed with Charles and played a few rounds of chess. He tired quickly and by eight, his butler was guiding him to bed. Before heading upstairs, he turned back to Elena.

“Stay the night, would you? Tomorrow morning I’ll have them make those pancakes you love. The kind that taste like the ones Vivian used to make.”

Elena blinked. Charles had somehow tracked down the recipe. Or maybe he just found someone who could copy the flavor. Either way, it was more than her own mother had ever bothered to do.

How could she say no? Besides, she was curious. She wanted to see how Nathan would play this.

At nine, a housekeeper came downstairs to tell her the bedroom had been made up. The marital bedroom.

Nathan was still upstairs, talking with Victor and Victoria. Elena headed up on her own.

Inside the room, everything looked untouched–except for one detail. Their wedding photo still hung on the wall. Nathan in a tux, Elena in white lace.

And no smile on his face.

She remembered asking him back then if he didn’t want to get married. He’d said he wasn’t feeling well that day.

Now she knew the truth. He was just upset he had to marry her.

Elena climbed onto the bed, stood up, and took the framed photo off the wall. She didn’t even hesitate–just tossed it onto a chair.

Then she grabbed her pajamas and headed into the shower.

She had to bite her lip to stop herself from grabbing a slipper and smacking him in the face. This man. This man who has a secret marriage to Camille. Who treats me like a placeholder. And now he wants to make a baby with me, for shares?
