Sham Mausge–Quit, Real Heiress Strikes Back
Chapter 332 A Mind That Refused to Open
She hadn’t eaten much to begin with, and–after emptying everything in her stomach, what came next was nothing but bitter acid that burned its way up her throat, the force of it so violent that tears were dragged from her eyes despite herself, leaving her breath unsteady and her body treinbling as the morning sickness she had only just begun to recover from surged back without warning.
By the time she managed to return to her seat, clutching her stomach, the nausea hit again almost immediately, but there was nothing left to bring up, leaving her with nothing but the hollow, wrenching discomfort that refused to subside, so she could only sit there with one hand pressed tightly against her abdomen, eyes closed, forcing her breathing to slow and deepen in an attempt to steady herself, even as the regret crept in, quiet but persistent, making her wonder if boarding this flight had been a mistake.
And yet, the moment the thought formed, it dissolved just as quickly, replaced by the image of Alexander. by the anticipation of the look on his face when he saw her, the surprise, the warmth, the unmistakable licker of joy, and suddenly everything she was enduring felt justified, as if the distance, the discomfort. even the pain were simply the price she was willing to pay to reach him.
A flight attendant noticed her pale expression and approached with quiet concern, asking if she needed help, but Elena barely had the strength to respond, managing only the faintest shake of her head because all she wanted now was to endure the remaining hours in silence, to let the wave pass without drawing attention to herself.
The attendant gave a small nod and stepped away, leaving her alone with the low hum of the cabin and the ingering scent of overlapping perfumes that only made her stomach churn more violently.
Inside the clinic, the atmosphere was entirely different.
Alexander sat back on the sofa, his eyes closed, his expression drawn tight in a way that suggested tension rather than rest, while Callum Newton watched him carefully from across the room.
‘Mr. Kingsley, we’re going to begin,” Callum said in a calm, measured tone, his voice deliberately eve@ast wove itself into the soft, drowsy music filling the space. “I need you to follow my guidance I’m gesig o take you back to a memory from your past. It could be something warm, something sate you’ve been avoiding. Whatever you see, just tell me. Don’t hold anything back.
…Alright.”

The music continued, slow and almost weightless, and under its influctice Alexander’s breaching steluos lengthened, each inhale deeper than the last, as though his body were being gently draw mo a plovs where resistance became harder to maintain
“You’re a child again,” Callum continued his voice low and steady Youre tits county and chorah somewhere you used to like being You feel safe there Familiar grounded

The answer came out faint, his lips pale, his brow beginning to tighten.
“Is he playing with your Callum prompted gently, trying to guide the memory toward something stable.
Silence followed
Alexander’s expression changed almost imperceptibly, but the tension in his features deepened, his brows drawing together as though he had stepped into something he couldn’t escape from.
“He’s with you,” Callum continued, adjusting his tone, “doing something you enjoy—”
Before he could finish, Alexander’s eyes flew open.
He dragged in a sharp breath, his chest rising and falling unevenly, his face drained of color as cold sweat broke out across his forehead in quick succession, because what flooded back was not warmth, not safety, but a scene so violent it tore straight through the fragile barrier he had been holding in place.
His father, lying motionless on the ground.
Blood everywhere.
A steel bar driven straight through his skull.
Gone.
Just like that.
Callum immediately reached for a tissue and handed it to him, hesitation flickering across his face as he assessed the situation.
“Let’s continue,” Alexander said, wiping the sweat from his forehead, his voice hoarse but controlled.
Callum shook his head.
“Mr. Kingsley, whether you’re here as Fiona’s friend or as my patient, I have a responsibility to teh you that your current state isn’t suitable for hypnotherapy,” he said firmly, no longer attempting to guide but to stop.
The problem wasn’t technique.
It was resistance.
Most patients who underwent hypnosis had already accepted the process, allowing themselves to tollow the doctor’s lead, but Alexander was different, because even as he sat there, even as he tried to comply there was a part of him that refused, that resisted at a deeper level
And forcing it further would not heal him
It would break him.
Outside, Fiona had been waiting.

When the door finally opened and Alexander stepped out, she rose immediately, concern flashing across her face the moment she saw him.
“Alexander? Are you alright?
He gave a brief nod and walked past her without stopping, returning to his room.
By the time Fiona followed, she had already learned the outcome of the session.
‘It’s okay,” she said softly, stepping closer as she reached out and placed her hand lightly over his. “We can take this slowly. I’ll stay with you.”
Alexander withdrew his hand almost immediately.
You should go back,” he said, his tone flat. “What I promised you has already been arranged. Ryan will handle the rest.”
The distance in his voice was unmistakable.
Fiona bit her lip, the humiliation showing for a brief moment before she forced herself to continue. “If I eave, what about you? I don’t feel comfortable leaving you here alone… or maybe you could ask Elena to ome? I heard she’s been in the country, helping Gideon deal with what happened at Pinecrest Medical Center. She should have time.”
The suggestion came too smoothly.
Too deliberately.
