Chapter 386 A Night at the Manor
Alexander was away on a business trip.
So Elena had returned to stay at Kingsley Manor for the past few days.

The only people left awake in the estate were the night staff, and by now, even they had gone to sleep.
As soon as the car came to a stop, Elena reached for the door handle.
“Wait.”
Alexander stopped her.
Under her puzzled gaze, he stepped out of the car, walked around to her side, and tucked one hand behind
his back. Then he extended the other toward her and gave an exaggerated gentleman’s bow.
“Your carriage awaits, Princess.”
Elena blinked at him for a second before bursting into laughter.
“What are you doing, Alexander?”
Still smiling, she placed her hand in his.
The moment her feet touched the lawn, he suddenly scooped her into his arms.
She had clearly expected it. Wrapping her arms around his neck with practiced ease, she let her entire body lean against him.
“What’s this supposed to be? Compensation for scaring me earlier today?”
She swung her legs lightly as she spoke, tilting her head up at him with a playful smile.
Alexander answered as though it were the most natural thing in the world.
“How is this compensation? I’ve wanted to hold you for hours.”
“Am I getting heavier?”
He carried her into the house without answering immediately.
The lights stayed off.
Every inch of the manor had been designed by him personally. He knew the layout better than anyone, even in complete darkness. Carrying her effortlessly, he walked through the living room and up the stairs with steady steps.
“I honestly can’t tell.”
As if worried she would think he was only humoring her, he deliberately adjusted her in his arms and gave her a tiny bounce.

Elena immediately tightened her grip around his neck.
“Stop messing around. What if you scare the baby?”
She could already feel the baby moving lately, and every little thing now made her nervous.
In reality, Alexander’s hold on her was perfectly secure.
She was barely over a hundred pounds even now. There was no chance he would let anything happen to her.
What he loved most was the way she instinctively worried about their child.
He lowered his head to kiss her, like he had been holding himself back for too long. The moment they entered the bedroom, he gently set her down. His hand slipped beneath the hem of her dress with familiar ease, fingertips brushing against soft skin he knew all too well.
Elena’s breathing immediately turned uneven.

Rising onto her toes, she kissed him first.
Alexander had restrained himself for so long that even now, he still didn’t dare lose complete control. Instead, he let her guide him, surrendering the moment to her.
Two hours later.
Elena rolled onto her side and quietly looked at the sleeping man beside her.
Moonlight spilled faintly across his face.
Her fingertips traced the slight crease between his brows, the sharp bridge of his nose, and the thin lips. that had kissed her with unbearable tenderness only moments ago.
Her chest tightened with emotions she couldn’t quite sort through.
Without opening his eyes, Alexander instinctively turned and pulled her back into his arms.
Against his chest, she could hear the powerful rhythm of his heartbeat.
“I’m okay. Don’t worry.”
His low voice drifted down from above her head.
Elena fell silent.
“Do you hear that heartbeat? Strong enough that I’ll probably live another seventy or eighty years.”
He chuckled softly.
Elena laughed too.

“What do you think you’ll look like when you’re old? White hair? White beard? Maybe your back won’t even straighten anymore heard old people start hunching over eventually. You’ll probably become some grumpy old man walking around with a cane.”
Alexander let out a helpless sigh.
“Nonsense. Even when I’m eighty, I’ll still be a handsome old man. You should start sleeping earlier instead. What if you end up aging faster than me Elena?”
He sounded genuinely concerned about it.
Elena kicked him lightly.
“Oh, please.”
But before she could pull back, he caught her ankle.
“Watch your language,” he said seriously. “The little one might hear you.”
Elena froze for a second before realizing he meant the baby.
She immediately laughed in disbelief.
“You’re ridiculous. Let me tell you something, though. If you don’t start taking care of yourself properly, then when you’re old and stuck in a wheelchair, I’m going to dance community line dances with other old men right in front of you.”
Alexander clicked his tongue dramatically.
“So you’ve secretly got hobbies like that?”
“Of course I do. My interests are very diverse. One day I’m going to dominate every plaza in Northbridge
“..Then do I still have time to learn line dancing?”
He kept chatting with her lazily like that, one sentence after another.
But after he finished speaking, no reply came.
Alexander lowered his gaze only to realize the woman in his arms had already fallen asleep.
A smile appeared in his eyes.
Lowering his head, he kissed her forehead softly before tightening his arms around her and slowly closing his eyes as well.
The next morning, Alexander headed to Pinnacle Group while Elena drove to Pinecrest Medical Center.
Gideon had only just arrived at the hospital when he saw Elena and Quentin already waiting inside the
office.
