Out of the corner of her eye, Elena caught sight of Camille. She slipped her hand into Nathan's and smiled sweetly. "Alright, don't forget to get everything ready for the wedding. I want you to make it big, like you're marrying me all over again."
Camille's stare made Nathan's back tense.
He forced a smile. "Yeah, of course."
"I'm heading inside."
Elena didn't spare Camille a glance as she walked in.
Back in her room, she turned on the lights and pulled the curtains shut, leaving just a small gap, perfectly angled to give her a clear view of the driveway below.
From outside, no one could see in.
Nathan glanced at Camille's expression. This was not the place to talk. He turned and headed for his car.
"You don't have anything to say to me?" Camille called out.
Nathan instinctively glanced upstairs. Elena was probably in the shower by now.
He frowned. "It's late, and this isn't the place. I'll explain another day, alright?"
He tried to leave.
Camille rushed forward and grabbed him hard. Her face twisted, jealousy written all over it. "What do you mean this isn't the place? This is the perfect place. Let her hear it. Let Elena hear who actually belongs as Mrs. Hawthorne."
She was done pretending.
She was the one who was supposed to have that title. So why did Elena get everything?
And now Nathan was even planning a wedding for Elena?
Her voice rose, sharp and uncontrollable, making Nathan's heart jump. He clamped a hand over her mouth, yanked open the back door, and pushed her inside the car.
"Let go of me, Nathan. I've been with you for this long, and now you're giving Elena a wedding? What about everything you promised me?"
Camille's voice broke as tears streamed down her face.
Nathan crouched down in front of her.
"Babe, I know this isn't fair to you. But you're the only one I care about. Elena made it clear. No wedding, no baby. Everything I'm doing is for us, for our future. Don't you see that?"
His voice softened as he wiped her tears away with a kiss.
"You know who I really want. Haven't you always known that?"
Camille cried even harder.
"You're not allowed to marry her. She already took my parents, and now she's trying to take you too. I'm going to talk to her right now. You're mine."
The image of Elena in a wedding dress standing next to Nathan drove her crazy.
