Video game I Can Turn Waste Into Treasure novel Chapter 42

Chapter 42

The young shark man dragged the dead octopus along like it was nothing, barely saying a word to Andrea the whole way.

Andrea trailed behind in silence, quietly pulling out a few of her crossbow bolts whenever she got the chance and tucking them away.

The shark man heard the noise behind him but didn’t bother to check on her.

He kept leading her deeper inside.

Before long, they passed by an orange grove.

The whole forest was glowing gold. Every tree was loaded with ripe oranges. The rich, sweet aroma hit Andrea right in the nose.

Her eyes were practically devouring the fruit. She could almost taste them by looking.

Wow, that smells amazing!Andrea thought to herself.

After about half an hour, they finally reached their destination.

Standing before them was a massive estate.

The main house looked huge. probably around 20,000 square feet. with white walls and a black roof, all in a clean, minimalist style.

What really grabbed Andrea’s attention were the flowers and fruit trees scattered around the house, and further out, patches of vibrant green that seemed to be vegetable gardens.

What kind of paradise is this?Andrea couldn’t help but think.

After spending over ten days at sea, this place felt like something out of a dream.

Andrea thought, Man, if only I could bring all this back to my island.

I wonder what kind of person lives here.

The shark man tossed the octopus into a room, locked the door, and walked back over to Andrea.

I’ll take you to the main house. If my boss says you can leave, I’ll see you out,he said.

He sighed, sounding a bit helpless. Well, you know, it’s your fault the cave collapsed.

But that’s notAndrea tried to protest.

I didn’t do it!she thought.

The shark man waved her off. Yeah, I know you didn’t do it yourself. You’re way too weak for that. Still, it

happened because of you.

Andrea’s mouth twitched at the unexpected jab.

Fine,she said.

This place was pretty nice. Sticking around for a bit wouldn’t be so bad.

With Andrea trailing behind, they made their way to a room deep inside the estate.

The shark man knocked on the door, waited for someone inside to answer, then opened it for Andrea and headed off.

As he left, he glanced back at Andrea and said, Good luck.

Andrea hadn’t thought much of it at first, but after he said that, something felt off all of a sudden.

But there was no way out now. She braced herself and walked in.

Lights blazed overhead, even in broad daylight. With several massive crystal chandeliers hanging from the ceiling, the whole room felt like something out of a fairy tale.

The place was so mesmerizing that Andrea felt a little lightheaded taking it all in.

Wait, could the owner of the island actually be a cute girl?Andrea wondered to herself.

Earlier, the voice outside had been so muffled that Andrea couldn’t even tell if it was a guy or a girl.

Hello?Andrea called out as she stepped inside, not seeing anyone around.

She waited for a bit, but nobody answered.

As she was about to head in further, a tall figure caught her eye.

It was a big guy. He was tall, broadshouldered, with a rough, masculine look and a scar at the corner of his

eye.

Andrea didn’t spot the usual shark hat or tail, so this guy had to be some kind of elite monster NPC.

He flashed a grin, revealing two rows of perfectly white, razorsharp, and perfectly aligned teeth.

Andrea suddenly felt a chill creep down her neck. Without making it obvious, she took a small step back.

She kept her left hand steady on her right wrist, still resting on her sleeve crossbow, not letting her guard down.

The guy looked Andrea up and down, then his brows furrowed.

He gestured with his chin at her. Where’d you get that?

Wait, what?Andrea thought.

She followed his gaze down to her wrist, still puzzled.

She wondered, What’s he looking at?

Is it the crossbow? Or something else?

I’m talking about the pouch on your wrist,” the guy said.

Andrea’s heart gave a jolt. She glanced at the scar by the man’s eye, then compared it to the symbol on her wrist pouch.

Scarface?she murmured to herself.

Hey, how’d you know my name?the guy said, looking genuinely surprised.

Andrea blinked, a bit taken aback. Wow, another straightforward nickname, she thought.

Suddenly, a shark’s silhouette popped into her mind. She wondered, Wait, is he

Scarface leaned in, trying to grab her wrist for a closer look at the pouch.

Andrea brushed his hand away.

Come on, we’re both grown men. What’s the big deal about letting me see?Scarface grumbled.

Andrea replied, “We’re not friends.”

That was when Andrea remembered that she was still in her NPC Trial Mode.

At the moment, she was in Orion Meadowsform.

Scarface looked at her for a while, clearly surprised. I remember this pouch was busted. How are you even using it?

I fixed it,” Andrea said honestly.

She emphasized, Since I fixed it, it’s mine now.”

She held onto her pouch, making it obvious she wasn’t about to hand it over. It wasn’t like she’d stolen it or anything.

Even if it was, she didn’t do it on purpose.

Scarface looked unimpressed. This crappy little pouch is palmsized and can’t even expand. Not interested.

Andrea thought, It can’t expand?

So the expansion feature must’ve been added when I reforged it.

Well, I scored a hidden gem for nothing!

Scarface suddenly changed tack. But do you really expect me to believe you fixed it? Come on, tell me who actually did it.

I told you it was me!Andrea shot back, clutching the pouch tighter. There was no way she was letting him take it.

Scarface snorted. You? With those scrawny arms and legs?

Andrea grinned. Yeah, with these scrawny arms and legs. Got a problem with that?

Scarface still looked skeptical. Seeing Andrea so smug, he started to lose his cool. Last chance. spill it, or I’ll hang you over the water and feed you to the sharks.

Andrea was speechless. She thought, I already told him, but he still doesn’t believe me. What else does he want from me?

Honestly, toss me into the ocean already. That’d be perfect. I could head home.

They locked eyes, neither blinking.

Andrea suddenly recalled that a while back, she’d spotted a shark in the ocean with a scar right by its eye.

Not sure if it’s this guy, but honestly, none of those sharks seem all that bright, she thought.

Suddenly, a voice shattered the tense silence. Andrea? Whoa, big shot, what are you doing here?

Both of them turned to look at the doorway.

Andrea narrowed her eyes, her mind twisting in circles. Who is this guy, and how does he know me?she wondered.

He’s a legend?Scarface asked.

Yeah, that’s right! The newcomer was a player. He was tall and skinny, rocking blackrimmed glasses and nodding enthusiastically.

Seeing Andrea’s curious look, he quickly introduced himself, I’m Dominic Carver, Andrea.
