Chapter 52
Andrea ran her fingers along the edge of the cabinet door. There was not even a sliver of space to be found.
There was no way she could pick the lock.
She thought about contacting Gwen, wondering if she could get to her location.
Then, a faint noise came from outside the cabinet.
Andrea’s heart skipped a beat. She thought, ‘Did he come back already?
“This is bad.’
Without hesitation, she activated her Locator Card, targeting Gwen.
The world blurred around her. Andrea found herself outside the cabinet.
Andrea barely had time to catch her balance before an axe came swinging right at her face!
Her pupils dilated in pure shock.
‘Girl, what are you even doing?’ Andrea mentally complained.
Thankfully, Gwen slammed on the brakes before Andrea’s Defense Card could kick in.
The axe stopped dead, hanging a hair’s breadth from Andrea’s nose.
For a moment, both of them instinctively held their breath, eyes locked in a stunned stare.
Gwen was the first to gasp, “Girl, you popped out of thin air. I was about to come rescue you!”
She pressed a hand to her chest, still a little freaked out, then rubbed her wrist, her eyes practically bulging in surprise. “I used a Locator Card on you,” Andrea said, half amused, half helpless.
Gwen blinked, looking baffled. “I texted you that I was coming to get you. I saw them drag you off right as it happened!” Andrea went quiet. She’d been so rattled by the noise outside the cabinet that she totally forgot to check her messages. In the end, she’d nearly gotten chopped by her friend.
Once they’d both calmed down, they agreed that it was time to get the heck out of there.
But before they could leave, a door creaked open in the room next to them.
Andrea and Gwen instantly tensed up, grabbing their weapons in a flash.
‘Please don’t let us get caught now,’ Andrea prayed silently.
Gwen whipped out a long knife, while Andrea raised her wrist crossbow.
“You two better not head out yet. Take a look outside first,” Russell said, strolling out of the next room calmly.
Gwen stayed on high alert, while Andrea gave Russell a long, hard stare before heading over to the window to check things

out.
Night had already fallen. The moment Andrea cracked open the window, she spotted a player getting dragged off by two creatures with long, skinny rat tails.
The place outside was now swarming with monsters, all prowling around and searching for players.
Any player who got spotted was snatched up and hauled away.
If any NPCs tried to interfere, they’d get dragged out or expelled right along with the players.
Andrea’s brow furrowed. These rat monsters were targeting players specifically.
She watched them for a bit and noticed all the monsters were wearing yellow jackets, with a single character stitched right across their backs.
It read: [Yellow.]
She remembered the token she had in her space. It had the exact same character on it.
‘Are these monsters part of the same group as the ones before?’ Andrea wondered.
She’d run into plenty of rat monsters in the previous dungeon, but these ones looked like total strangers.
Gwen walked over and caught sight of the monsters dragging players away.
“Hey, these little rats look like trouble,” Gwen said.
With that, she swung her blade around a bit.
Andrea saw the eager look on Gwen’s face and wanted to tell her not to get reckless, but the memory of Gwen twisting a mutant wolf’s neck with her bare hands flashed through her mind.
She decided to keep her mouth shut.
Andrea kept her eyes glued to the scene outside, watching everything unfold.
In the middle of all the panicked players, Andrea noticed someone who was strangely calm.
The crowd pushed him forward, and every now and then, he’d move his lips without any real emotion, pretending to join in the frantic yelling.
When he reached a corner, he quietly ducked behind a pile of junk by the wall, slipping out of sight.
Even after the rat monsters cleared out the rest of the players, Andrea never saw him come back out.
Andrea exchanged a look with Gwen. Neither of them had a clue who that guy was.
This was a cross-server dungeon, so he could be from another server.
Before Andrea could even react, Gwen had already slipped out the window.
‘She must be going after that guy, Andrea thought.
Russell walked over after Gwen slipped out the window.

But as soon as Andrea got her hands on the note, she immediately understood why
The note was scribbled by green-haired kid. The handwriting looked like a chicken had pecked all over
Good thing she got her system’s auto-translate. Otherwise, even if she knew the language, she’d never be able to of this font.
Andrea checked again. The note read: [Help me!]
Andrea couldn’t help but twitch her lips and think, Seriously? That’s all? Could it get any more vague?
‘How am I supposed to know where to rescue him with this pathetic little note?
Noticing Andrea was struggling with the note, Russell finally spoke up. “I think I might know what happened to him
Andrea tucked the note away and looked up at Russell.
Russell glanced out the window in a specific direction. “This morning, a giant rat snatched up both him and his father! He locked eyes with Andrea, looking dead serious. “If you can get them both back, I’ll drop the whole recipe thing “Consider it yours, no strings attached. You have my word on that.”
Russell handed Andrea a green feather. “He’s got no one else but you.”
Andrea felt a twinge in her heart. She wasn’t actually Orion, after all.
But still, green-haired kid had helped her out before, so whether it was out of gratitude or the right thing to do, she knew she had to go save him.
She asked Russell for the exact location, and he pulled out a map he’d already marked up and handed it over.
He even promised to let her stay for free these next few days, though she’d have to cook her own meals.
It was still early, and Andrea was feeling restless. She couldn’t stay cooped up any longer. She wanted to head out and do some scouting.
Andrea thought, ‘Can’t let this valuable time go to waste.
‘As long as I’m careful, I should be fine, right?”
But before she could even step out the door, a blood-curdling scream ripped through the air.
