Chapter 53
Andrea rushed to the window. Russell came running back after hearing the noise.
A rat monster about half as tall as a person was attacking a female player, clawing and biting at her like crazy The player couldn’t fend it off and got knocked to the ground, with the rat monster going straight for her fac
She quickly threw up her arm to block, and her forearm was left a bloody mess from the savage bites.
With her other hand, she grabbed a metal rod and kept smashing the rat monster’s head, but the creature acted like it couldn’t feel a thing, refusing to loosen its grip.
Andrea raised her wrist crossbow and took aim right at the rat monster’s head.
But the struggle was so intense that their bodies kept shifting. In the end, she only managed to hit the rat monster in back.
She didn’t dare fire recklessly, afraid she might accidentally get the player killed faster.
But even after the arrow struck, the rat monster shuddered slightly and still refused to release its grip.
It was as if it was hell-bent on taking the player’s life.
The female player was about to give up, but then she realized someone was coming to her rescue.
Her survival instinct kicked in again as she yelled, “Go ahead and shoot. I’m not afraid. If I die, so be it?” Seeing this, Andrea quickly loaded a poisoned bolt. If she waited any longer, there’d be no saving the player. But as Andrea was about to fire, Russell called out and stopped her, “Wait, let me handle this!”
As soon as he finished, Andrea saw Russell grab a round, fist-sized black object and toss it out the window. The moment it hit the ground, it went off with a violent “bang bang.”
The noise was absolutely earth-shattering, way louder than any firecracker.
Even from where Andrea was standing, she felt like her ears were about to be blown out.
But it worked like a charm. The rat monster was so startled by the noise that it finally let go and bolted. “What kind of secret weapon is that?’ Andrea thought. She was genuinely interested.
As she was about to ask Russell, she noticed he’d somehow put on a pair of noise-canceling earmuffs.
He was watching the scene downstairs with a calm expression, completely unfazed
‘Seriously? No warning?’ Andrea grumbled inwardly.
She seriously suspected he was getting back at her.
Seeing Andrea looking at him with a complicated expression, Russell let out a couple of cheerful laughs.
“I don’t like anything bad happening in front of my restaurant. No need to thank me,” he said.

Andrea didn’t say anything more. With 100,000 gold coins stuffed in her pocket, she still fel a bit guilty.
But she couldn’t help being curious about that secret weapon. “What did you throw? Why is it that the rat monster didn’t care about dying, but totally freaked out over that?
Russell pulled out another one and handed it to Andrea.
He explained. “You can pick these up anywhere on the street. They’re for rituals
“Those crazy rat monsters freak out over loud noises. Monster City bulletin says in I happened to have one
Andrea took it. It was pretty lightweight
There was a label on it with the name and instructions.
[Electronic Firecracker: For rituals only. Volume adjustable. Eco-friendly, green rituals]
Andrea was surprised.
She thought, Okay then.
Alright, I guess. Protecting the environment is everyone’s job, after all.
Andrea put the electronic firecracker away, and Russell had already gone back to his room.
Now, all she could do was hope he wouldn’t notice his gold coins were missing too soon. She still had to stay here unti
tomorrow.
After all that drama, it was already getting late, so Andrea decided not to go out tonight.
She’d head out early tomorrow instead.
She headed to the room Russell had set up for her and opened the window to let in some fresh air.
As she casually scanned her surroundings, she happened to catch sight of a giant rat lumbering past the restaurant entrance
The giant rat was clutching a massive chunk of mystery meat in its left paw, tearing into it with enthusiasm,
In its right paw, it was dangling a scrawny rat monster. Andrea realized it was the very same one that had attacked the player earlier.
Her crossbow bolt was still sticking out of its back.
As the giant rat passed under a streetlight, it stopped, dropped the rat monster on the ground, and started devouring meat, totally focused.
With the light shining down, Andrea finally got a good look at it
It looked almost identical to the two giant rats she’d seen in the previous dungeon. They had two black spots on their heals.
Andrea wondered, ‘Could they be brothers?
‘Good thing it’s not those two giant rats from before, or I’d definitely be hunted down.
After grabbing a bite and freshening up. Andrea flopped onto the bed and pulled up the holographi
Chapter 53
Someone was calling for help in the Chat Channel.
A person wrote: [Got bitten by a rat monster. Feels like it was poisoned.
[I took an antidote pill and it helped a bit, but I still feel pretty rough. Anyone got a better antidote? I’ll pay top price.
[Big thanks to the mysterious hero who saved me earlier. If you see this, please reach out. I really want to repay you!] ‘Looks like the player who got bitten is from our server, Andrea thought.
Andrea thought back to the rat monster’s features from earlier.
It was hard to see in the dark, but she thought she saw some green on its head.
She had a hunch.
She dug out the spray she’d used before. There was still plenty left.
She split it into ten Iml vials and listed them on the Trading Post for 20 gold coins each.
Then she dropped a message in the group chat.
Andrea: [Special antidote spray is up for sale. Grab it if you need it.]
The spray was gone in seconds. She had no clue if that player managed to snag one. It all came down to luck.
She pulled a scrap of plastic bag from her space and used the Reforge skill.
She’d picked this up in the dungeon building on the management floor. It was a snack gift pack, with 35 bags in total.
That was a lot of snacks. Andrea wasn’t really into snacks before, but she’d grab some every now and then when she wanted a
little treat.
Now, it had been ages since she’d had any, and she was seriously craving them.
She had no idea what kind of snacks were inside.
‘I can’t wait to see what’s inside!’ Andrea thought.
[Reforge successful! You’ve obtained a snack gift pack. 70 bags in total.]
‘Wow, that’s enough snacks to last me forever!’ Andrea thought.
She was so happy.
She tried to hug the gift pack, but it was so huge her arms couldn’t even wrap around it.
‘Seriously, I am so satisfied!’ Andrea thought.
She couldn’t hold back anymore and snatched up several packs, eager to try them out.
But as soon as she opened them, she was totally dumbfounded.
There were Monster Teething Stick, Hairy Bean, and Crispy Centipede Legs.
Andrea stared at the snacks, completely stunned.

What even are these?’ Andrea thought.
She pulled out all 70 bags, only to find that every single one was monster food.
The names were so bizarre. She knew a normal human would never touch this stuff.
Andrea thought, ‘Welp, there goes my snack fantasy.
‘I really jinxed myself by getting happy too soon.
‘Guess I’ll wash up and go to bed.
*****
Before dawn the next day, Andrea was already up.
Though she used to sleep like a log, ever since she came to this survival world, she hadn’t slept in once.
She headed downstairs to the kitchen and made herself a pot of mushroom and lean meat soup.
While she was eating, Andrea checked her holographic screen and noticed she had a bunch of private messages waiting for her.
Shannon Gray: [Hey, thanks for the antidote spray. I’m all good now.
[Do you
have any more antidote gold coins.
spray for sale? I’ve got a friend from another server who needs it. He’s willing to pay 100
[If that’s not enough, you can ask for more.
[Hey, is 300 gold coins okay?
[450 gold coins is the highest he can go. I’ve already talked him up to his limit.]
Andrea had set the price at 20 gold coins per vial, wanting to lend a hand to folks in her own server if she could, without putting herself at a disadvantage.
But if someone from another server wanted to buy, she’d definitely raise the price.
Still, she never expected anyone to offer 450 gold coins.
She’d gone to bed last night, all annoyed over that snack gift pack. It turned out that the nap was totally worth it after all.
Andrea replied: [I’ll take 450 gold coins.]
Shannon replied instantly. The deal was sealed in a flash.
This time, Andrea packed the antidote spray with twice as much as yesterday.
Since she was charging that many gold coins, she wanted to make sure the buyer felt it was totally worth it.
Sure enough, the buyer was super happy.
Shannon: [Thanks so much. You gave him way more antidote than he expected. He feels kinda awkward about it.) Andrea: [If he needs more, tell him to hit me up. I’ll give him the best price.]
