Chapter 61
Andrea kept firing her crossbow, and whenever she saw an opening, she’d dash in for a quick slash.
Gwen had handed her 500 arrows before the fight. Andrea had lost count of how many she’d shot. By now, the bear looked like a walking pincushion.
Plenty of arrows had fallen to the ground, and a good number of them were poison or tranquilizer arrows.
The bear was pretty smart. It seemed to know those two types of arrows were dangerous and focused on blocking them.
The bear was not strong and fierce. It fought like it had nothing to lose, wild and desperate.
But after battling the three for so long, it was starting to run out of steam.
It wasn’t pounding the ground and roaring like before. It had gone silent, worn out and brooding.
The three of them were running on fumes too.
They wasted no time, grabbing some food in a hurry to refuel.
Andrea thought, ‘If only I had an Energy Booster right now.
‘Should’ve asked Gwen to farm a full set of five Energy Boosters earlier!
All three of them looked exhausted, but there was a stubborn determination in their eyes. None of them was ready to give
Then, a familiar voice called out from the edge of the crowd, “Need Energy Boosters? 500 gold coins each!”
Andrea’s eyes lit up as she looked at Russell standing in the corner.
Without a second thought, she tossed over 1,500 gold coins and caught the three Energy Boosters the shopkeeper threw her
way.
She suspected that the guy selling Energy Boosters at the cart earlier was actually Russell in disguise.
Andrea tossed an Energy Booster to each of her teammates, then shot a look at the guy and said, “Make sure you pay up
Time was running out, so she didn’t sweat the details.
She’d get the gold coins eventually.
The man wiped the sweat off his face and said gruffly, “Thanks!”
After chugging the Energy Boosters, all three of them were instantly back at full strength.
The effect of the Energy Booster would last for two hours, so they had to take down the bear before time ran out.
With the bear exhausted and the poison spreading through its body, the three of them went all in, not letting up for a second as they kept pummeling it.
After going back and forth so many times, the three of them were working together like a well-oiled machine. The bear, on the other hand, was slowing down.

The bear was covered in wounds now. Some were so deep that bone was showing. It looked downright terrifying
Andrea was almost out of arrows, but now was definitely not the time to risk picking any up. It was way too dangerous
‘Or maybe. Andrea hesitated
Suddenly, a possibility flashed through her mind.
As the thought crossed her mind, a green figure suddenly appeared.
He flew low over the battlefield, circling around and gathering up all the scattered arrows in one smooth sweep.
Kiki looked all pouty “Finally, it’s my turn to do something Andrea, why didn’t you call me sooner? I was dying to jump in.
“I’m not much of a fighter, but picking up arrows is a piece of cake for me!”
“You’re the best, Kiki!” Andrea cheered.
Honestly, she’d totally forgotten she even had a pet until now.
She kept up her attacks without missing a beat, praising Kiki as she fought.
Noticing the bear was getting weaker, the other players got braver, jumping in and hacking away at it, all trying to get in on
the action.
Suddenly, the bear was swamped, barely able to handle the barrage of attacks coming from every direction.
Finally, after locking in with laser focus, Andrea shot a poisoned arrow right into the bear’s eye.
The bear froze for a heartbeat, then grabbed its face and let out a wild, guttural roar. It lost its mind, tossing nearby players aside.
Gwen dodged the bear’s flailing chains and scrambled up its back.
She plunged her dagger into its belly, then jumped down, using gravity to rip it open in one brutal motion.
The man, seeing his chance, moved in and hacked at the bear’s Achilles tendon. His weapon wasn’t sharp enough, so he had to put some real muscle into it.
People started shouting and cheering, unable to contain their excitement.
“We did it!” everyone yelled.
Andrea kept raining arrows down, not letting up for a second.
She was giving her teammates cover, making sure they could move safely.
As everyone was caught up in the excitement, celebrating their imminent victory, Andrea’s pupils suddenly dilated in shock. She yelled, “Careful!”
As Gwen was about to hit the ground, the bear went totally berserk and slammed its paw right into her back.
She was sent flying, like a kite with its string cut, completely out of control.
Someone else had gotten smacked like that earlier. They never got up again.

Chapter 61
It wasn’t about broken bones or internal injuries. The fall alone could be deadly
Andrea didn’t hesitate for a second
She jumped down from the high ground, shot a cable from her wrist device, and caught Gwen in mid air pulling hurr toward herself with all her might
She hugged Gwen tight, ready to take the hit on her own back.
Luckily, she had a Defense Card. This should keep her safe from the fall
As they were about to crash to the ground, a pair of claws caught them mid-air
Kiki came to the rescue in time
“Whoa, that was close” The crowd let out a series of shocked gasps.
“These outsiders are pretty tough!” The birdfolk watched with keen interest.
“Isn’t that monster risking a fine by helping the outsiders?” one of them wondered aloud.
Another birdman mused, “Maybe…
“Maybe he’s rich?*
“That girl who got smacked by the bear is actually pretty cute, a bit tall. Maybe it’s true love?” another joked.
Once they touched down safely, Andrea gently set Gwen down.
Afraid Gwen might suffer injuries in her lungs, Andrea didn’t dare jostle her at all.
She quickly pulled out a Blood-Stanching Pill and helped Gwen swallow one.
The Blood-Stanching Pill wasn’t just for stopping bleeding. It was supposed to heal wounds, too, but it was unknown if it could handle such severe injuries.
The giant bear was finally down. Everyone crowded around Gwen, concern written all over their faces.
Her eyes were shut tight, and her expression was grim. She looked like she barely had any life left in her
Everyone felt their hearts tighten with worry as they watched.
“She looks really bad. Is she actually going to die like this?” the man muttered.
He frowned, regret clear in his voice.
Andrea said, her voice full of conviction, “No way. She hasn’t even gotten her rewards yet, or all the good stuff. There’s no way she’d die before she gets her hands on it.”
Andrea put on a brave face, but deep down, she wasn’t so sure herself.
She checked the Trading Post for any Blood-Stanching Pills, but came up empty-handed.
She sent out a message in the group chat, asking if anyone had any Blood-Stanching Pills. The other three bad ao clie whe was happening, but they all started scrambling to find one.

Chapter 61
The man said a few words to comfort Andrea, but she didn’t even register any of it.
After a few minutes, seeing Gwen’s face regain a hint of color. Andrea finally felt a sense of relief.
Suddenly, something clicked for Andrea.
“Guess I’ll have to give these spicy snacks away if she won’t eat them,” Andrea sighed.
She pulled out the bag and gave it a loud, crunchy squeeze, making sure everyone could hear the crackling
“I’m giving them away!” Andrea teased.
“Wait…” Gwen’s weak voice broke the silence.
Gwen forced out, “Help me up. I can still fight!”
Seeing Gwen rally, the man couldn’t help but chuckle, quietly breathing a sigh of relief.
He handed over the gold coins for the Energy Booster to Andrea, then headed off toward the teleportation point.
Gwen clutched her lower back and struggled to sit up.
“I need some snacks first!” she said, her eyes locked on the fiery red snack bag in Andrea’s hand, practically drooling.
Andrea sighed and tossed the bag over.
Gwen caught it and tore it open without even looking.
“Honestly, I thought I was done for, but after taking that healing kit you gave me. I’m feeling way better now,” Gwen said.
‘Glad that actually worked,’ Andrea thought.
Andrea genuinely liked Gwen. Losing a teammate like her wasn’t something she could accept.
Once she saw Gwen was out of danger, Andrea let out a breath she’d been holding and slipped back into the crowd.
It was time to scavenge for loot.
