Wait…Why Did Everyone I Love Suddenly Call Me a Bitch?! novel Chapter 27

Chapter 11

On the third floor of the special research institute in New York, dozens of doctors gathered around the hospital bed, all staring intently at the

woman lying there.

On the monitors beside her, all vital signs were slowly returning to normal.

Yet she remained with her eyes tightly closed, showing no signs of waking up.

The doctors exchanged glances and prepared to leave once again in disappointment.

Just as the door to the room opened, her fingertip twitched, and she slowly opened her eyes.

In an instant, the entire building erupted.

“She’s awake!”

“She’s awake! This is a miracle! We did it!”

“Winston, you’re incredible! This successful case will shock the world!”

Mia looked around in confusion at everything before her-doctors in white coats celebrating excitedly, jumping and dancing with joy.

From the crowd emerged a tall man who leaned down beside her and said:

“You’re very lucky.”

“A month ago, our research team was conducting marine studies when I found you floating on the surface.”

“Our ship had the most advanced medical equipment on board, and the focus of that study trip happened to be kidney cancer.”

Mia still couldn’t believe it. She pinched herself hard, gasping at the sharp pain:

She was actually alive?

She had encountered such astronomical odds!

It must have been the protection of her parents and grandmother. With this second chance at life, she would never give up so easily again, nor

would she ever be so wretched for the sake of love.

The man was amused by her reaction and helped her sit up.

“I’m Winston Parker, your attending physician.”

“Your kidney transplant was extremely successful. I might become internationally renowned again because of you.”

Only then did Mia understand what had happened after she jumped into the sea.

After Winston rescued her from the water, he discovered her critical condition and arranged for a kidney donor while still on the ship.

Due to his status, a suitable kidney was found very smoothly.

Once they reached shore, she was immediately wheeled into surgery, which alone took nearly two full days.

Chapter 11

And she had been unconscious for an entire month.

Winston’s intern chimed in.

“This past month, Dr. Parker practically lived in your room. Now that you’re awake, he can finally go home and get a proper night’s sleep.”

“Your condition was so severe-I’ve never seen a human body endure such trauma. If you didn’t currently lack legal status, we almost would have called the police.”

Mia smiled and looked down at her body.

Faint bruises still marked her pale arms, and the scars from being dragged behind the car would probably never fully fade.

She glanced around the luxurious private room, her heart tightening.

“But I don’t have money to pay for medical expenses right now. Could I perhaps pay it back slowly after discharge…”

Winston was amused by her cautious expression and handed her the documents in his hands.

“You’re the subject of my research paper. Not only are all medical expenses waived, but once the paper is published, you’ll get half of my prize money and honors.”

Mia examined the documents thoroughly before finally breathing a sigh of relief.

In the following days, Winston visited her room daily to record her progress. She fully cooperated with his treatment plan, and their conversations gradually expanded from medical topics to other areas.

They discussed favorite authors, celebrity gossip they found interesting, and even foods they loved.

Like friends, they grew increasingly familiar with each other.

But when Winston asked if she wanted him to contact her family, Mia fell silent.

She still remembered Dominic’s resolve when he told her to jump into the sea to retrieve the urn, and the despair she felt as she sank while the ship sailed away in the opposite direction.

Her death would have been a relief for him, wouldn’t it?

He wouldn’t have to be bound by her past kindness anymore, wouldn’t have to hide his relationship with Letty. He could give Letty a grand

wedding and begin their happy life together.

Sensing her reluctance to discuss it, Winston quickly changed the subject.

“After discharge next week, are you planning to return home or stay in New York?”

“If you stay, I can introduce you to my friend’s firm. Wasn’t your major in finance? I believe in your abilities-he’d offer you a decent salary.”

Seeing her conflicted expression, Winston immediately clarified:

“I don’t mean anything by it. I just think if you stayed, it would be more convenient for follow-up appointments.”

He touched his nose, observing Mia’s expression.

When she nodded, he couldn’t suppress the smile tugging at his lips.

“Great! I’ll contact my friend right now. You should prepare for tonight’s discharge party-everyone’s thrilled but sad to see you go.”
