Chapter 98
The wail of an ambulance siren cut through the air above the hospital as a still unconscious Emma was rushed into the operating room.
The smell of antiseptic filled Mason’s nostrils, making him restless as he leaned against the wall.
“Mason!”
Hurried footsteps approached from down the hall as Robert and Patricia Anderson, having received the news, rushed into the hospital.
“How is Emma? What about the baby? What did the doctors say?”
Patricia grabbed Mason’s arm, her voice trembling, her eyes filled with worry.
More than the baby, she wanted to gauge Mason’s reaction.
“I heard that Clara pushed her at the conference. Did the two of them have some kind of argument?”
“Why would Clara push her? Or is there…”
Patricia watched Mason’s expression carefully.“She’s holding a grudge against us…
“But if she has a problem with us, why take it out on an unborn child and Emma…”
“Emma had no idea what happened back then!”
“Alright, that’s enough.”
Seeing a flicker of surprise in Mason’s eyes, Robert stepped forward and put his arm around Patricia, whose eyes were red and swollen. He patted her back, signaling her to stop.
Mason stood there, the phrase “Emma had no idea what happened back then” echoing in his mind.
So Emma really didn’t know anything about it?
“Don’t worry,
dear.”
Seraphina Walker, Mason’s mother, also arrived at the hospital, having heard the news.
“Mason, I heard that Clara pushed Emma. Could there be some misunderstanding?”
She had watched Clara grow up, and she couldn’t believe Clara would do something like that.
Mason lowered his eyes, recalling the scene at the conference.
He hadn’t ruled out the possibility that Emma was intentionally trying to frame Clara, only to end up hurting the baby.
If Emma truly didn’t know what happened all those years ago, then everything she had done over the years wasn’t an act.
Then she wouldn’t have been so cruel as to risk losing her child just to frame Clara.
Which leaves only one possibility…
“Clara must have pushed Emma a little too hard, and she lost her balance.”
“Why would Clara push Emma?”
Seraphina’s eyes widened.

Mason thought for a moment, then briefly told Seraphina about Clara and Ryan showing up at the gala together.
“Maybe she thought we were meddling.”
“Oh, my God…
Seraphina took a step back.“How could Clara turn out like this?”
“Isn’t it awful?”
Patricia dabbed at her tears. “Seraphina, you’re practically family. You have to speak up for Emma!”
“She’s been so careful since she got pregnant. Just yesterday, she was talking about buying new clothes for the baby, and now she’s lying in the operating room. If she loses the baby, how will Emma ever go on?”
“Mm.”
Seraphina nodded and looked at Mason.“Mason, what are you going to do?”
Mason stared at the light above the operating room, saying nothing.
“Mason, you can’t just let this go.”
Seeing Mason’s hesitation, Seraphina Walker’s expression turned icy, her eyes urging him on.
“Emma is your fiancée, and she was carrying your child. You need to make things right with Emma after what happened today
Mason’s hand clenched slowly at his side, and he said in a heavy voice, “Let’s wait and see what the doctor says. If anything happens to Emma or the baby, I won’t let Clara Bennett get away with it.”
As soon as he finished speaking, the light above the operating room suddenly went out.
Everyone rushed forward. The doctor took off his mask and shook his head wearily.“I’m sorry, we did everything we could.”
“We couldn’t save the baby, and Miss Anderson lost too much blood. Her uterus is severely damaged, and she probably won’t be able to
have children again.”
“What?!”
Patricia Anderson felt a wave of dizziness wash over her.
She had thought that using a child who was never meant to be born to make Mason hate Clara Bennett and stop making things difficult for the Anderson family would be the best outcome.
She never expected that this would cause Emma Anderson to lose her chance to become a mother!
She swayed, falling backward. Robert Anderson quickly caught her, a sense of panic rising in his chest.
If Emma Anderson can’t have children, will Mason still marry her?
“How could this happen? Are you saying you’re not skilled enough?!”
“Mr. Anderson, we really did everything we could,” the doctor sighed.
Emma’s father, John Anderson, stumbled back, muttering, “She can’t have children…. How could Clara Bennett be so vicious? How dare she be so vicious?”
She abruptly looked up at Mason Walker, her eyes blazing with fury.

“Mason! Do you see what she’s done? She not only made Emma lose her baby, but she’s also ruined her life!”
“We can’t let a woman like that get away with this! She has to pay for what she’s done to Emma!”
Mason stood frozen, his mind blank for a moment.
The doctor’s words hit him like a sledgehammer, making his head spin.
She can’t have children…

He remembered when he went with Emma for her first prenatal checkup, her smile when they confirmed the pregnancy, the way she touched her belly and said, “I hope our baby grows up healthy.” Then he thought of Clara’s indifference, and the anger that had been building up inside him exploded.
“Clara Bennett…”
He gritted his teeth, his eyes filled with icy rage.“Okay, very well.”
He pulled out his phone, his fingers trembling slightly with anger, and dialed his assistant’s number, his voice frigid.
“Let it be known that, as of today, no company that partners with the Walker Group is to make any investments in Anderson Industries under Clara Bennett’s authority.”
“Whether she’s trying to develop projects or secure resources, anyone who dares to help her is going against me, Mason Walker.” The assistant on the other end of the line paused, then quickly responded, “Yes, Mr. Walker, I’ll take care of it immediately.”
By the time Emma Anderson regained consciousness, it was nearly evening. She instinctively reached for her lower abdomen, her gaze fixed on the ceiling as tears streamed down her face.
Her baby… was gone!
“You’re awake.”
Mason Walker, seeing that she was awake, walked to the bedside.
Emma Anderson didn’t miss the guilt in his eyes and offered a weak smile.
It seemed her plan had worked!
This way, the Anderson family would be saved, and she would get her wish of marrying Mason Walker.
As for the child… there would be others in the future!
Emma Anderson turned her head and noticed Patricia Anderson sitting beside her, weeping. A bad feeling welled up inside her.
“Mom, what’s wrong?”
Could something have gone wrong?
“Emma, you have to stay strong,”
Patricia Anderson’s eyes were bloodshot as she grasped Emma Anderson’s hand. “Just focus on getting better, don’t think about anything else.”
“Clara Bennett hurt your baby, hurt you, and Mason will get justice for you.”
“As for the baby… technology is so advanced these days; you and Mason can go abroad for surrogacy…”

Emma was stunned, not quite processing what she’d heard.

Once she and Mason cleared up their misunderstandings, they could have children of their own. Why would they need to go abroad for surrogacy?
She looked up at Mason, but he averted his gaze, glancing at Robert instead.
“I’m gonna step outside for a smoke, man.”
Emma’s heart sank. She squeezed Patricia’s hand.“Mom, what’s going on? What happened to me?”
“Emma, honey, the doctor said… your uterus is damaged. You won’t be able to have children.”
Patricia burst into tears again after saying that.
Never be able to have children?
Damaged uterus?!
Patricia’s words echoed in her ears. Emma felt as though an invisible hand was clenching her heart, the pain almost suffocating her.
“How could this be… how could this be happening!”
Tears streamed down her face uncontrollably, soaking the pillow.
Emma thought of the tiny life that hadn’t had a chance to develop, and the realization that she would never be a mother.
Her whispers grew louder and louder as tears fell like rain.
“Clara… Clara Bennett!”
“Give me back my baby! Give me back my baby!”
Clutching the bedsheets, she pressed a hand to her chest, gasping for breath, a venomous light swirling in her eyes.
It was all Clara Bennett’s fault!
If it weren’t for Clara, even if she didn’t want the baby, she could have discussed it calmly with Mason Walker and had an abortion, instead of taking the risk of using the child to frame her!
If she hadn’t resorted to such desperate measures, how could she have ended up like this!
Yes, it was all Clara’s fault. It was because of Clara that she lost the chance to be a mother!
“Emma, don’t be like this, you’re scaring me…”
Patricia Anderson, seeing Emma Anderson’s terrifying appearance, took her hand and soothed in a low voice, “Now Mason Walker completely hates Clara Bennett. He will marry you.”
Emma Anderson turned her head, looked at her mother’s red and swollen eyes, her voice hoarse, her face full of despair.
“Mom, I don’t have a baby anymore… I can never have children again…”
“Even if I go abroad for surrogacy, that won’t be my own child!”
“And Mason, he will have many children in the future, but none of them will come from my womb. How will he treat me then?”
“Mom, I’m ruined, my whole life is ruined!”

“It’s all Clara’s fault, it’s all her fault!”
“Mom…”
Meng
She looked up at Robert, who was standing by the door, her eyes brimming with tears.“Dad, we can’t let Clara get away with this. She’s the one who ruined me!”
Robert looked at his daughter’s grief–stricken face, feeling a mixture of heartache and rage.
“Emma, don’t worry. Our family will not let Clara get away with this!”
“She’s ruined your life, and I’m going to make her pay!”
Patricia chimed in, her voice sharp with resentment.“That’s right! We’re not only going to make Mason see that Clara hurt you, but we’re also going to make sure everyone knows about it!”
“We’ll make sure she can’t stay in Chicago!”
“Emma, please don’t cry anymore. You just had a miscarriage; how can your eyes handle all this crying?”
“Yes, Emma, don’t cry. You’re still in your post–surgery recovery period.”
The door to the room opened, and Seraphina walked in carrying a thermos, her face etched with concern.“I had the kitchen make some chicken soup. Drink some to help you recover.”
She placed the thermos on the bedside table and sat down, taking Emma’s hand.“Don’t be too upset. You can always try for another child. The most important thing is that you’re okay.”
“Mason isn’t the kind of person who cares that much about having kids. He won’t look down on you.”
She had overheard Emma’s words outside the room, but as someone who had been through it, she understood Emma’s pain.
“You’ve suffered so much for him. If he ever mistreats you, he’ll have to answer to me.”
“About Clara and the baby…”
She paused, hesitant for a moment, then continued, “Mason will make her pay for what she did. The Walker family will have nothing more to do with her.”
Robert and Patricia exchanged a look, visibly relieved.
With Seraphina’s assurance, even if Mason held a grudge, he would still have to marry Emma!
Grand Horizon Tech.
“What are you saying? Clara really caused Emma to lose her baby?”
Upon learning that Clara had pushed Emma at the expo, resulting in her miscarriage, Mason had issued a ban against Anderson
Industries.
Richard nearly dropped his teacup.
Victor nodded, his face grim.“Dad, it’s all over the news!”
“Everyone in the industry knows that Clara offended Mason. Anyone who dares to help Anderson Industries is going against the Walker family!”
< Chapter 98
“Dad, what do we do?”
“Anderson Industries is Mom’s legacy. We can’t just stand by and watch it be destroyed because of her!”
Richard’s face was ashen as he stood up and paced back and forth in his office.
“She’s utterly useless!”
“After all these years, the Anderson family has been supporting her, and she dares to treat Emma Anderson like this!”

Richard Bennett knew how much effort Linda Bennett had put into Anderson Industries. Of course, he couldn’t bear to see it ruined, but to help Clara Bennett…
Thinking about Clara Bennett’s attitude towards him before, he felt resentful and couldn’t come up with any good ideas for a while.
“Dad, Brother.”
Olivia Bennett, who had also heard the news, walked in with a plate of fruit.“What’s got you so worked up?”
Seeing Olivia Bennett, Richard Bennett’s eyes lit up.“You’ve come at the right time. Help Dad come up with an idea.”
Thinking that Olivia Bennett always had good ideas, he briefly explained what had happened at the networking event.
After listening, Olivia Bennett rolled her eyes and smiled faintly.“I do have an idea, but I don’t know if it’s feasible.”
“Actually, Dad doesn’t want to watch Anderson Industries be destroyed, but he doesn’t want to help Clara Bennett, lest she think she has the Bennett family to rely on and can do whatever she wants in the future.”
“Why not take this opportunity to acquire Anderson Industries?”
Richard Bennett stopped walking and looked at her.“Acquire it?”
“Yes,”
Olivia Bennett nodded, her tone calm.“Mason Walker has cut off Anderson Industries‘ investment, and their cash flow is tight.”
“As long as we provide enough funds to acquire Anderson Industries while ensuring the interests of the shareholders, they won’t disagree.”
“It’s better for Anderson Industries to be in our hands than to be swallowed by outsiders.”
Richard’s eyes
lit up.“That’s a great idea.”
Seeing Richard agree, Olivia’s lips curled into a smile.
That way, Clara would have nothing left but the title of project leader for Blade.
Richard paused for a moment, then said to Victor, “Clara has gotten herself into such a mess that she really has nowhere else to turn.” “Go talk to her about the acquisition. Also, tell her that as long as she agrees not to divorce Ethan, and has another child, that child and Luke can each inherit from the Carters and Linda’s estate. I’ll even leave her a share of Anderson Industries.”
“But if she doesn’t agree, she can forget about getting anything!”
Victor’s eyes brightened.“Got it. I’ll contact her right away.”
That way, even if it’s just for the sake of Anderson Industries, Clara won’t divorce Ethan, and she might even agree to have another
child.
< Chapter 98
Then the Bennetts and the Carters will be completely tied together!
He glanced at Olivia and smiled.
“Well, I won’t disturb you and Victor any longer.”
Pleased that she could make Clara’s life difficult, Olivia turned and left.

But before she could close the office door, she heard Richard say, “Victor, contact Director Collins again and see when we can meet with the person in charge of Blade.”
“We must secure the rights to collaborate with Blade first.”
Olivia paused, a bad feeling washing over her.
If her father and brother met with the person in charge of Blade, they would discover that Clara was behind it all.
At that point, not only would the acquisition of Anderson Industries fall through, but if Clara brought up the car accident from years ago, they would definitely investigate.
She hurried out of the office and dialed Diane’s number.
“Mom, Dad and Brother will soon find out that Clara is in charge of Blade. I’m worried Clara will have them investigate what happened
back then.”
“How are things progressing on your
end?”
“You’re a grown woman; what’s with all the panic?”
Diane sounded confident, as if she were at a card table.“Don’t worry. Anthony Parker left Seaside City long ago. Someone is watching him; there won’t be any problems.”
“Even if Clara tries to investigate, she won’t find him!”
At the same time, Clara received a call from Attorney Brown.
“Ms. Bennett, Anthony Parker has left Seaside City under the protection of Diane’s people and has arrived in Chicago.”
“Our people have been keeping an eye on him. Should we arrange a meeting?”
