Leilani hurried forward a couple of steps. The bodyguards immediately blocked her path.

"Mr. Roche, please wait!" Leilani called out anxiously.

The man turned his head at the sound of her voice. His dark eyes, carrying a distant, chilling sharpness, silently fell upon her.

He raised a hand slightly. The bodyguards stepped aside, letting her through.

With gratitude shining in her clear eyes, Leilani quickly approached him.

As his tall shadow fell over her, Leilani suddenly realized he was even taller than Preston.

Her breath caught slightly before she spoke in an appreciative tone. "Sir, thank you for taking me to the hospital last night."

The man gave her an indifferent glance. "Don't mention it."

Without warning, an elegant velvet box appeared in his hand. His thumb brushed over the textured surface before he gently placed it in Leilani's palm.

Leilani stood frozen. The item she had so desperately wanted was right in her hand, yet she hesitated to accept it.

The man glanced sideways at his assistant. Trent promptly handed over a business card. "Ms. Sandoval, this is Mr. Roche's card."

Leilani took it. Looking down, she noticed the card was made of a heavy, charcoal-black premium paper. The gold-foil lettering caught the light, shimmering like a piece of art.

Centered at the top was his name: Caelan Roche.

"Mr. Roche," Leilani said quickly, "I'll contact you soon to arrange the payment!"

Caelan's gaze lowered, settling on Leilani's eyelashes that fluttered like butterfly wings. His voice was deep. "Leilani Sandoval."
