Chapter 10
Each word struck Julian’s ears like thunder in spring, exploding with a force that left him stunned.
He couldn’t believe what he had just heard; his pupils widened to the extreme, and his lips trembled uncontrollably.
What did it mean that she had signed, he had signed, and they were already divorced?
When did he ever sign anything?!
The camera in his hand fell with a bang, knocking over a folder on the table that landed on his leg.
The large ‘Divorce Agreement’ was imprinted in his eyes.
He quickly picked it up and flipped straight to the last page, immediately spotting Amelia’s signature.
And just a few centimeters to the left, in the signature box, there was another name.
He was all too familiar with that handwriting.
Because it was his own signature, bold and flamboyant-Julian!
In an instant, countless details Julian had previously ignored flooded his mind.
That time at the law firm, Amelia said she was there to get his signature, but she had come down from upstairs, and Lewis’s office was on the second floor.
When Lewis asked him to pass on the property, division documents, Amelia’s face flashed with panic the moment she saw him.
Every time he came home this past month and noticed things missing, they all belonged to her.
Thinking about the layout of the new house, Julian could almost be certain that all of this was her deliberate plan.
She had spun a massive lie right under his nose, quietly made him sign the divorce agreement, and then left alone.

Once he pieced everything together, a surge of anger and panic overwhelmed Julian.
Clutching the agreement and his camera, he dashed downstairs, drove straight to the law firm, burst into the second-floor office, and slammed the divorce agreement onto Lewis’s desk.
“Did
you
handle this divorce casc, Lewis?”
Seeing how frantic he was, Lewis quickly put down his teacup and picked up the stack of documents to flip through them.
“Yes, I handled it. What’s wrong?”
Julian’s fury reached its peak at that moment; he lost all sense of reason and, forgetting their collegial relationship, roared out loud.
“Why didn’t
you tell me about Amelia’s case in advance?”
Lewis had no idea what was going on and was completely bewildered.
“This case followed all procedures and has already been submitted for review. There’s nothing wrong with it. Why should I have told you in advance?”
“It’s related to
e-why didn’t you tell me?”
Hearing his accusation, Lewis’s mouth dropped open in shock, and he hurriedly flipped to the last page to check the husband’s name.
Julian.
Julian???
Amelia’s husband was Julian?
Julian was married? Wasn’t he single?
A thick cloud of confusion settled over Lewis’s mind, and his expression changed rapidly.
“I didn’t know Ms. Leighton was your wife. Weren’t you single?”
That sentence was like a bucket of cold water, extinguishing all of Julian’s anger.
Once his reason returned, he realized how he had just behaved and quickly bowed to apologize.
Lewis didn’t take it to heart at all; instead, he grabbed Julian’s hand and eagerly asked for an explanation.

But Julian was desperate to find Amelia and had no mood to explain.
“Lewis, I’ll tell you everything when I have time. Can you give me Lia’s contact information first? I can’t reach her now, and as her cooperating lawyer, you must be able to contact her.”
Before leaving, Amelia had indeed left a phone number and an address.
But as a seasoned professional, Lewis firmly refused.
“Jules, you’re in this business too. Disclosing client information is illegal-don’t put me in a difficult position. Ms. Leighton is your wife after all. If you think carefully, you’ll definitely be able to reach her. Don’t worry, take your time. She’s been emotionally stable lately and nothing will happen to her.”
Lewis had overestimated Julian’s abilities.
Even though they had been married for three years, he didn’t have any contact information for Amelia’s family or friends. He couldn’t even reach her parents, nor did he know where her hometown was.
He truly couldn’t contact her, so he tried to persuade Lewis with heartfelt words, hoping to move him.
But no matter how much he pleaded, Lewis had only one answer: no comment.
Julian was left with no choice but to settle for the next best thing-he wrote a letter and asked Lewis to forward it to Amelia.
After work, Lewis sent a message saying Ms. Leighton had seen it but did not reply.
Julian hurriedly opened WhatsApp, wanting to send Amelia a message, only to find her profile picture had turned gray, displaying ‘Deactivated User.’
Did she really go this far to cut off all contact with him after the divorce?
On the tenth anniversary of their acquaintance, Julian suddenly felt as if he was meeting Amelia for the first time.
