We Are Officially Divorced novel Chapter 11

Chapter 11

After leaving St. Louis, Amelia went to the train station, randomly pointed to a destination, bought a high-speed rail ticket, and began her first trip after the divorce.

Within a single day, traveling from north to south, the temperature gradually rose, and the air became more humid.

Carrying her luggage, she arrived in a completely unfamiliar city, Beaufort.

Unlike the fast-paced life of St. Louis, everything in this small town slowed down. After storing her luggage at the inn, she set off on a purposeless wandering journey.

She ordered a bowl of noodles, sat on the noisy street drinking a cold beverage, and felt her body and mind relax.

Her phone chimed. There were only a handful of contacts in her new WhatsApp. She opened it and saw two messages from Lewis.

“Ms. Leighton, why didn’t you clarify your identity with me before getting divorced? Oh dear, this whole thing-if I hadn’t given you the contact info, Jules would have lost his temper with me. He wrote a letter and asked me to pass it on to you. Take a look first.”

Amelia had expected that Julian would be angry.

But the fact that he would actually write a letter truly surprised her.

She opened the document and saw a lengthy piece of writing. Her eyes immediately locked onto the word count.

8,000 words.

Just for a divorce, he actually wrote 8,000 words-was that really necessary? Was it all just to accuse her?

But having successfully escaped the prison of marriage, Amelia was in a good mood and didn’t want to read anything that would spoil it.

With that thought, she closed the document, put her phone on silent, and started eating the noodles that had just been served.

After finishing her meal, she wandered alone through the night market, eating and browsing. All

the complicated emotions pent up in her heart were dissolved by her appetite.

When she returned to the hotel at night, she first sent Lewis a thank you message, then replied with a document.

After Julian received the document, the anxiety that had been gripping his heart finally eased a little.

He opened it with great anticipation, but was instantly stunned.

“Too long, didn’t read.

Divorced, do not disturb.”

Those two simple lines stirred up a storm in his heart that had just begun to calm.

His fingers flew across the screen as he typed out a long message, wanting to send it.

But remembering the words ‘too long,’ he could only vent his frustration by repeatedly pressing the delete key.

Until his patience was finally exhausted, he threw his phone onto the bed, collapsed powerlessly onto the floor, and closed his tired eyes.

In his chaotic mind, scenes from that video began to flash by one after another.

He reached for the camera on the table, opened it, scrolled to the end, and watched it over and over again, finally pausing on the frame with Elizabeth.

On the 36th hour after Amelia left, Julian finally discovered the reason he had been divorced.

So she knew about what happened between him and Elizabeth?

As soon as this thought appeared, Julian’s heart skipped a few beats.

A wave of unprecedented panic surged in his chest.

He held his head, desperately trying to recall, attempting to figure out exactly where things had

gone wrong.

One memory after another surfaced, finally stopping at the day they moved,

While he and Ethan were running up and down the stairs, it seemed Elizabeth and Amelia had spent some time alone together.

But thinking back, that day was the ninth day of the divorce cooling-off period. Even if she had

accidentally learned something, she wouldn’t have anticipated it in advance.

The origin of everything could only be traced back to when they met at the law firm, when she tricked him into signing the property agreement.

Recalling what had happened the day before, Julian’s face instantly turned deathly pale.
