Chloe's words struck the exact nerve Noelle was most terrified of exposing. Her face darkened instantly, her eyes locking onto Chloe with a venomous glare.
"If you've got my entire life figured out, then why the hell did you come crawling to me?"
Pearl shot her youngest daughter a panicked look, silently begging her to shut up, before turning back to Noelle, practically fawning. "Noelle, please, Chloe is just impatient and doesn't know when to keep her mouth shut. Don't listen to her. I know the Sanders family values you. Why else would they let you run a massive medical company?"
Noelle scoffed coldly. "Whatever my situation is, it's none of your business. Leave. Now. Don't make me have security drag you out."
"Honestly, if you ask me," Chloe said, ignoring the warning entirely, flashing a nasty smirk, "since Finnian Sanders is already at your beck and call, buying you whatever you want, you should just hurry up and steal the title of Mrs. Sanders back. Everyone's already talking about it anyway. If you don't lock him down now, you're going to miss your chance."
Noelle's blood ran cold. She stared at the girl, genuinely tempted to find some wet cement and permanently seal her mouth shut. The sheer audacity to say something so dangerous out loud in a corporate building was staggering.
"If you don't shut up right now, I'm going to stitch your mouth shut myself," Noelle thought. But she was too smart to say it aloud. She needed to feel out the situation slowly, ensuring any move she made was foolproof.
"Chloe, this is your sister's private business! Keep your mouth shut!" Pearl snapped, finally trying to rein her in.
Chloe rolled her eyes. "Am I wrong? I'm just looking out for her! Look, if you want me to keep my mouth shut, there's an easy fix. Acknowledge us. You're my sister, so obviously I won't go around spreading rumors. But if you're going to pretend you don't know us, then I might just..."
Before she could finish, Noelle grabbed her teacup and threw the contents straight at Chloe's face. The hot water splashed over her, leaving wet tea leaves stuck to her dramatic eyelashes.
"You..." Chloe shrieked, looking like she wanted to lunge across the table and claw Noelle's eyes out.
Noelle stepped forward, her voice dropping to a terrifyingly quiet register. "If I ever hear that you've been running your mouth and ruining my reputation, I won't care that we share blood. I will ruin you."
Pearl's heart hammered in her chest. She hadn't expected her long-lost daughter to be so utterly ruthless. She was clearly a woman with massive ambition who played for keeps. But that also meant she actually had the power to save them.
"She's legally an adult. She can face the consequences of her own actions," Noelle said flatly. "Now get out. You are not welcome here."
Having a sister who couldn't keep her mouth shut was an enormous liability. Noelle's biggest fear was that Chloe would sabotage her carefully laid plans. It was better to cut them off entirely.
Seeing that her pleas were falling on deaf ears, Pearl played her trump card.
"We can transfer fifty percent of the company's equity to you, below market price. You'll have total control over the business. We just want to keep it from going under," Pearl said, desperation bleeding into her voice.
Noelle's icy gaze flickered. She slowly extended her hand. "Show me the financials."
Pearl had come prepared. She immediately pulled out a thick folder containing the company's financial records and management structure and handed it over.
