What She Overheard in Her Own Marriage novel Chapter 215

Leo stood up, his body rigid. Watching Finnian turn away—looking like a man who had just taken a physical blow—a deep sense of unease began to spread in Leo's chest.

That afternoon, Kaia had originally planned to pick Brynlee up from school. However, she received a call from her parents, saying they were going to get her instead. They wanted Brynlee to sleep over at their place for the night, since it was the weekend and there was no school the next day.

Kaia happily agreed to let them take her. Now already on the road, she checked the time and dialed a number on her phone.

"Mr. Finch, I'd like to come in and talk."

Quinn Finch replied promptly, "Of course, Dr. Chavez. I'm in my office. I'll be waiting for you."

Kaia drove over and knocked lightly on Quinn's office door.

Quinn, having already prepared the necessary files, immediately stood up to let her in. "Dr. Chavez, please come in."

Kaia took a seat across from his desk. Quinn handed her a thick stack of papers. "This is the draft of the divorce agreement based on the information you provided last time. I've highlighted a few key points. Have a look."

Kaia took the document and carefully flipped through it, page by page.

She scrutinized everything—the division of assets, child custody, and the confidentiality clauses—reading with absolute focus.

Her goal was to maximize the protection of her and her daughter's rights without unnecessarily escalating the conflict.

"The biggest hurdle right now is the division of assets," Quinn explained. "Finnian's primary wealth stems from the family equity he inherited before your marriage, which will be extremely difficult to lay claim to. Then there are his personal investments, real estate, and the appreciation of his shares during your marriage. We'll likely need to bring in a forensic accountant to fully evaluate all of that."

"As for custody, I strongly advise filing for sole physical custody, granting Finnian visitation rights and requiring him to pay child support. Of course, Mr. Sanders is likely to fight back on that, so joint custody could be an alternative. But based on the cases I've handled, if the relationship between the parents is completely fractured, joint custody almost always leads to massive conflicts down the line."

"I want sole custody," Kaia stated without a second's hesitation.

She continued flipping to the back of the packet. The confidentiality clauses were meticulously drafted: neither party was allowed to publicly defame the other, leak details of the divorce to the press, or speak ill of the other parent in front of their child.

"Regarding the infidelity," Quinn noted. "The evidence you've provided can certainly be used to argue irreconcilable differences. But in practice, proving emotional infidelity is incredibly ambiguous and tough to hold up in court—unless you can secure something far more concrete."

Kaia frowned. If only she hadn't been so paralyzed by shock that day on the third floor. She had completely forgotten to record their conversation. An audio recording of that confession would have been the ultimate proof.

Now, the exact nature of Finnian and Noelle's relationship was even harder to pin down. They could hide behind the guise of being "family" to justify being alone together in public. Proving anything untoward was nearly impossible—unless she managed to catch them kissing or walked in on them in bed...

A sharp ache instantly pierced the space between Kaia's brows, and she reached up to massage her temples.
