What She Overheard in Her Own Marriage novel Chapter 247

Noelle, who had been staring blankly at the screen, quickly lowered her eyes, her fingers instinctively curling into fists.

"Noelle," Elaine said sharply. "These tabloids just make things up for ratings. They have zero journalistic integrity. Don't let it bother you. I'm going to have Finnian squash these ridiculous rumors right now."

"I know, Mom," Noelle murmured. "The media loves to blow things out of proportion to get clicks. They have no shame. Having Finnian shut it down is definitely the right move."

Then, Noelle's expression shifted into one of deep concern. "Mom, do you think Kaia saw the news? Do you think she's making wild assumptions like that reporter? Should I call her and explain everything?"

Elaine scowled.

Noelle buried her face in her hands, looking absolutely plagued by guilt. "If I had known my accident would cause such a massive scandal and make Kaia misunderstand, I would have crawled off that stage myself. I shouldn't have burdened Finnian with taking me to the hospital..."

"Stop talking nonsense." Elaine's heart instantly softened, and she sighed. "You were hurt. Of course you needed to go to the hospital. Finnian is practically your brother. A brother checking on his sister is perfectly normal. It's those media vultures who have no morals, spouting absolute garbage."

Noelle kept her head bowed, maintaining her pained, remorseful facade.

The next day, at the Veridian Future R&D department.

Kaia arrived at work as usual, proceeding with her tasks as if the viral scandal hadn't affected her in the slightest.

Her team respected her sheer professionalism and didn't dare utter a word about the video in her presence.

Kaia knew their silence was largely due to the strict corporate rules implemented by the conglomerate; they were keeping their mouths shut to protect their jobs.

But as she walked down the corridors, she could still feel the weight of their stares piercing her like needles.

It felt as though everyone was silently reminding her of the humiliating reality: Her husband had publicly embraced another woman, and now the entire city knew about it.

Just as Kaia was contemplating demanding that Finnian clean up the mess, Josephine called her. The matriarch offered comfort, strongly condemned the situation, and promised she would force Noelle to give Kaia a public explanation, urging Kaia not to overthink things.

Kaia was stunned. She hadn't expected the matriarch to intervene personally.

At the same time, Noelle was resting in her hospital bed, surrounded by several Aethelstan executives. A thick stack of documents sat in front of her while Wendy stood nearby, flipping the pages for her.

Suddenly, her phone rang.

One glance at the caller ID made Noelle's heart skip a beat.

"Everyone, step out for a moment. I need to take this." She immediately dismissed the executives, ordering them to wait in the hall.

Noelle answered the phone, her voice dripping with sweetness. "Hello!"

"Miss Sanders, Grandmother requests your presence immediately," Ava's stoic voice delivered the message. "The car is already on its way to the hospital."

Noelle's blood ran cold. She glanced at her cast-bound leg and pleaded softly, "Ava, my leg is broken. I can't walk..."
