What She Overheard in Her Own Marriage novel Chapter 297

Kaia was stunned. She suddenly remembered—three years into their marriage, Finnian had gone on a business trip and ended up in a rear-end collision, fracturing his leg. She had immediately rushed to a completely different city just to take care of him.

Back then, she had been a willing fool. All she had wanted was to be good to him, to give him everything she had.

Kaia lowered her gaze.

Josephine stayed for a little while longer, reminding her to rest well before she finally took her leave.

Watching Kaia sitting alone on the sofa, echoing the matriarch's words in her head, Layla felt a profound pang of sorrow. She realized that some sacrifices simply never saw a return.

The moment Josephine found out Finnian was completely unreachable on the night of Kaia's hospitalization, she immediately called him.

Finnian answered quickly. "Grandmother, is something wrong?"

"Where are you?"

"At the office."

"I'm asking where you were last night," Josephine stressed.

He went silent for a second. "I'm in a meeting right now. I have to go."

The line went dead. Josephine's wrinkled face darkened with fury.

She ordered her driver, "To The Sanders Tower."

On the way to the corporate headquarters, Josephine's phone rang again. It was Mrs. Rhodes Sr.

"Mrs. Rhodes, how are things?" Josephine asked smoothly.

Whatever the other woman said caused Josephine's expression to gradually curdle.

"Is that so? Martin said that himself?"

After listening for another minute, her face was a thundercloud. "Alright, I understand. We'll speak later."

Hanging up, she tossed the phone into her bag and let out a furious scoff.

Ava asked cautiously from the seat beside her, "Ma'am, what's made you so angry?"

Josephine frowned, her expression grim. "The match between Noelle and the Rhodes boy is off."

Ava froze. It felt entirely expected, but she didn't dare say another word.

Josephine stared out the window, her gaze turning incredibly cold.

Mrs. Rhodes Sr. had claimed her grandson deeply admired Noelle but didn't want to date right now, preferring to just remain friends.

Josephine immediately pulled out her phone and fired off a text. Moments later, a batch of photos came through.

She finally knew where Finnian had been messing around last night.

He had attended a yacht party. Noelle was there. Martin Rhodes was there too.
