What She Overheard in Her Own Marriage novel Chapter 338

Warren kept talking. "I'm divorced, you're a widow. Honestly, we're a perfect match. Don't you think?"

The word 'widow' made Noelle's eyes flash with pure ice.

"Mr. Warren, are we on a date, or are we haggling at a meat market? You've apparently investigated every inch of my life, yet I know absolutely nothing about you." Noelle was exceptional at playing the victim, but when someone genuinely crossed her, the mask slipped fast.

Warren picked up his wine glass, took a measured sip, and adjusted his posture into something more serious. "Didn't my aunt fill you in? I own three manufacturing companies. I have a six-year-old daughter. I'm a practical man, so I might not understand all the trendy things modern women like, but rest assured, I'm exactly the kind of man you want to settle down with."

"Tell me about your ex-wife," Noelle demanded, already utterly repulsed by him.

"She was a good woman, but just too headstrong. We didn't see eye to eye on much, so we couldn't make it work. Obviously, there were faults on both sides."

Noelle let out a dry, condescending laugh. "Since you recognize your flaws, have you ever considered fixing them?"

"Fix them? My personality is fine just the way it is. Why would I change?" Warren threw his hands up, oozing arrogance. "Look, don't worry. I don't care about your past. Everyone's got a little baggage. It's perfectly normal."

Bringing up her widowhood again?
