What She Overheard in Her Own Marriage novel Chapter 362

He hadn't expected her to resort to physical force just because she was losing an argument.

"Kaia, you brought Brynlee all the way to Switzerland just to go on a date with him, didn't you? If it's the truth, why not just admit it?" Finnian was inexplicably furious. He felt she had zero respect for him; they weren't even divorced yet, and she was already rushing out to make him look like a fool.

Listening to his twisted logic, a suffocating wave of anger lodged in Kaia's chest.

She glared at him with pure venom.

Finnian returned her look with an impassive expression. "Noelle and I do not have the kind of relationship you think we do. We are completely innocent. I'd appreciate it if you stopped letting your imagination run wild..."

"Is that so? Innocent enough that the two of you had to sneak off to the third floor during your brother's memorial to make out? If there hadn't been so many guests that day, you probably would have gotten her pregnant on the spot." Kaia could no longer stomach his excuses. She had intended to take that secret to her grave, wanting to spare them whatever dignity they had left.

But Finnian's blatant hypocrisy pushed her over the edge, forcing the ugly truth out into the open.

Finnian recoiled as if he'd been struck. His eyes widened in absolute shock.

"I heard it with my own ears. Don't even try to tell me Noelle deepfaked an audio recording just to mess with my head," Kaia mocked coldly.

Finnian's jaw clenched. He opened his mouth, but the words died in his throat.

Kaia didn't give him a chance to recover. "Do you even remember what day that was? It was Rafael's memorial. Your wife, your daughter, and your entire family were downstairs. And where were you? Making out with your brother's widow in a third-floor storage room."

"It wasn't like that!" Finnian's composure finally shattered. "It's not what you think, Kaia. It was a misunderstanding."

Drained of all her energy, Kaia took a few steps back and leaned against the opposite wall, regarding him with ice-cold disdain. "Later that day, you acted like absolutely nothing happened. You walked up to the podium and delivered your eulogy with a straight face. Rafael was so good to you when he was alive. How could you do something so morally bankrupt? She was his wife. Even if you lusted after her..."

"Kaia." Finnian's voice dropped, laced with a faint tremor. "Stop, please."

"Why shouldn't I say it? It's the truth. When she begged you to give her a child, you didn't even reject her outright. That tells me everything I need to know about your guilty conscience. A married man who doesn't know how to set boundaries is already betraying his wife."

Finnian's face flushed a deep, violent red. He stared fixedly at her, desperate to explain, yet knowing how pathetic any excuse would sound.

"You're disgusting," Kaia spat.
