What She Overheard in Her Own Marriage novel Chapter 379

Finnian froze, the world entirely dropping out from beneath him. Dexter and Mrs. Wagner stood paralyzed in shock.

"You... you must be mistaken," Finnian stammered, staring wildly at the doctor. "That's impossible. How could she be pregnant? Did you mix up the charts?"

Dr. Evans, completely unaware of the billionaire's identity, remained professional. "There is no mistake, sir. We ran blood work and performed an ultrasound. She is definitively pregnant. As for the fainting spell, my preliminary diagnosis is exhaustion and malnutrition, coupled with emotional distress, leading to a sudden drop in blood sugar."

"No. That's impossible." Finnian stood rooted to the spot, feeling as though he'd been struck by lightning.

Noelle was pregnant?

Whose... whose child was it?

Finnian's jaw clenched so hard his teeth ached. He didn't want to follow that train of thought. He flashed back to the night before—her vomiting, her sudden weight loss, the bone-deep fatigue. Was it all because she was carrying a child?

Behind him, Mrs. Wagner and Dexter exchanged terrified, knowing looks. It was the exact reaction of two people who had expected this outcome, but realized the timing was disastrously wrong.

Finnian heard them shift. He spun around, catching their expressions. His brow furiously furrowed. "Don't look at me like that. The baby isn't mine."

Both of them gaped at him, thoroughly bewildered.

If it wasn't his... then whose was it?

Inside the room, Noelle's eyes fluttered open to a blindingly white ceiling.

The sharp stench of antiseptic hit her. In a fraction of a second, her blood ran cold. She bolted upright, her hands flying to her flat stomach. "My babies..."

"Whose babies?"
